Russia and Cuba promote comprehensive bilateral cooperation
On April 29, Cuban President Raul Castro warmly received Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who is visiting Cuba to promote bilateral cooperation.
In a cordial atmosphere, the Cuban leader and the Russian Foreign Minister discussed bilateral relations, affirming the two sides' commitment to further promoting cooperation in all fields as well as supporting each other in international forums.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Lavrov held talks with his host counterpart Bruno Rodriguez, during which the two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation agreements, especially in the fields of economy, trade, energy, transport and infrastructure.
The head of Russian diplomacy expressed gratitude for the Cuban Government's consistent support for Russia during the crisis in Ukraine and highlighted the traditional brotherly friendship between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Lavrov affirmed that Cuba has always been a strategic and traditional partner of Russia in Latin America. He also particularly emphasized the role of Latin American countries in promoting respect for international law with an independent policy and Cuba is one of the pioneers in strengthening the activities of regional organizations such as the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
For his part, Cuban Foreign Minister Rodriguez emphasized Russia's role in international affairs, rejected Western countries' decisions to sanction Russia, and said that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)'s attempt to expand its borders closer to Russia is a serious threat to international peace and security.
Cuba is the first stop in Foreign Minister Lavrov's tour of Latin American countries that will also take him to Nicaragua, Peru and Chile./.
