Vietnam Social Security sector implements social security policy well
(Baonghean.vn) - Our Party and State always pay attention to leading, directing, building and organizing the good implementation of social security policies, the pillars of which are Social Insurance and Health Insurance policies.
This is both the goal and the driving force for sustainable development of the country, demonstrating the good nature of the socialist regime. On February 16, 1995 (28 years ago), Vietnam Social Insurance was established, creating an important "turning point" in the organization and implementation of Social Insurance and Health Insurance policies in our country.

Let's review the "milestones" on the 28-year journey of building and developing the Vietnam Social Insurance industry in particular and the Social Insurance and Health Insurance policies in general.
1995:The birth of Vietnam Social Security created a major "turning point" in the implementation of social insurance policies and regimes in our country.
2002:Organizational consolidationSocial insuranceHealth insurance facilitates the organization and implementation of policies effectively, professionally and in accordance with international practices.
2006: The Law on Social Insurance was born - An important step in institutionalizing the innovative views of the Party and State on Social Insurance.
2008:The Law on Health Insurance was born - An important milestone in the process of perfecting policies and laws on Health Insurance.
2012:The Politburo issued a Resolution on in-depth leadership on Social Insurance and Health Insurance.
2013:Unemployment Insurance policy is regulated in the Law on Employment.
2014:Continue to amend and perfect the Law on Social Insurance and the Law on Health Insurance.
2016: The Government issued Decrees to continue affirming the role and tasks of Vietnam Social Security and promoting electronic transactions in the fields of Social Insurance and Health Insurance.
2018:The Central Executive Committee of the Party issued a Resolution on reforming social insurance policy.
2020: Developing a professional and modern Vietnamese Social Insurance industry.
2021:Vietnam Social Security is assigned as the governing body of the National Database on Insurance; the Government issues the largest cash support package from the Unemployment Insurance Fund ever.
2022:Many "breakthroughs" in the field of digital transformation of Social Insurance and Health Insurance, providing more services and utilities to serve people and businesses.

To achieve remarkable developments in all fields with the above important milestones is thanks to the attention, leadership and direction of the Party, National Assembly, Government, Prime Minister, Party committees and authorities at all levels; the coordination and active support of ministries, departments, branches, units and organizations;...
In particular, with the strong participation of Party committees and authorities at all levels. Up to now, 63 provinces and cities have established Steering Committees to implement Social Insurance and Health Insurance policies; most provinces and cities have included the coverage targets of Social Insurance and Health Insurance in the Resolution on local socio-economic development.
Along with that is the spirit of solidarity, constant efforts and striving of civil servants, public employees and workers of the entire Vietnam Social Insurance sector to achieve many important and comprehensive achievements in all fields, in which the outstanding is the impressive growth in coverage of Social Insurance and Health Insurance:
The number of people participating in Social Insurance is 17.5 million people,Reaching 38.08% of the working-age workforce (of which: The number of people participating in compulsory social insurance increased from 2.3 million people in 1995 to more than 16 million people in 2022, an increase of over 7.5 times;
Number of people participating in voluntary social insuranceincreased from 6,000 people in 2008 to nearly 1.5 million people in 2022, an increase of 250 times);
Number of people participating in Unemployment Insuranceincreased from nearly 6 million people in 2009 to more than 14.3 million people in 2022, an increase of nearly 2.4 times;
Number of people participating in health insurance increasedfrom 7.1 million people in 1995 to more than 91.1 million people in 2022, an increase of 12.8 times, reaching a coverage rate of 92.04% of the population - basically completing the goal of universal health insurance.
Accordingly, the rights and benefits of participants and beneficiaries of Social Insurance, Health Insurance and Unemployment Insurance are fully and promptly guaranteed by the Vietnam Social Insurance sector.
These results demonstrate that the Vietnam Social Insurance industry is growing, gradually affirming its important position and role in ensuring social security for the people, promoting progress and social justice for sustainable national development.
