Industry and Trade Sector Celebrates 60th Anniversary of Tradition and Receives Third Class Independence Medal
(Baonghean) -This morning, May 12, in Vinh city, Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Industry and Trade sector's tradition day (May 14, 1951 - May 14, 2011) and received the Third Class Independence Medal.
Attending and sharing joy with generations of leaders and officials of the Industry through the periods were comrades: Nguyen Thanh Bien - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade; comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors and leaders of districts and cities.
The speech at the Commemoration Ceremony, presented by Comrade Phan Thanh Tinh - Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, reviewed the tradition of the Industry. 60 years ago, on May 14, 1951, the President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam issued Decree No. 21-SL to change the name of the Ministry of Economy to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1418/QD-TTg, dated October 20, 2008, taking May 14 every year as "Traditional Day of the Industry and Trade Sector of Vietnam". Nghe An Economic Department was changed to Industry and Trade Department, with the task of assisting the Provincial Administrative Resistance Committee in directing and managing the industry and trade sector in the whole province. Together with the whole country, after 60 years of construction and development, Nghe An Industry and Trade Sector has made great strides on the path of integration. In each period, the Sector plays an important role in the socio-economic development of the province.
Implementing the development goals set by the Provincial Party Congresses of each term, especially the 15th and 16th Provincial Party Congresses, in the condition that Nghe An is not yet a key area for industrial development investment priority of the Central Government, the investment environment is not favorable, but thanks to the strong direction, industry still grows rapidly, reaching an average rate of 22.1%/year. The industrial production value in 2005 reached 3,863 billion VND, in 2010 reached 8,542 billion VND, 6.2 times higher than in 2000. The proportion of industry - construction in GDP increased from 18.9% to 29.3% in 2005 and 33.4% in 2010.
The commercial sector has also developed rapidly. The whole province has over 5,000 enterprises, 55,000 regular business households in 298 markets, 23 supermarkets, over 65,719 stores, kiosks, etc. Ensuring timely and adequate supply of production, consumption, economic development, and timely overcoming of natural disasters. The growth rate of total retail sales of consumer goods and services reaches an average of over 22% per year. The market and import-export turnover are constantly increasing. Total export turnover in 2010 reached 386.3 million USD with agricultural products, construction materials, minerals, textiles, etc. to 45 countries and territories around the world.
The Industry and Trade sector is focusing strongly on solutions to successfully implement the goals set out in the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress in the field of Industry and Trade: striving for the industrial production value to reach 18,700 billion VND by 2015, with an average growth rate of 16-17%; the proportion of industry and construction in GDP in 2015 to reach 39-40%; striving for the export turnover to reach 500-550 million USD by 2015 (of which goods export reaches about 300-350 million USD).
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Ho Duc Phoc praised the achievements that the cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the Industry and Trade sector have achieved over the years. At the same time, he also pointed out the shortcomings of the sector that need to be focused on overcoming, especially the solutions to achieve the goals set out in the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress in the field of Industry and Trade (Nghe An Newspaper quoted the full text of the speech).
At the ceremony, authorized by the President, comrades Ho Duc Phoc and Nguyen Thanh Bien awarded the Third Class Independence Medal to Nghe An Industry and Trade; awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to comrade Phan Thanh Tinh, Director of the Department; awarded the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to individuals with outstanding achievements in the past time and awarded the Banner of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee "Nghe An Industry and Trade - 60 years of construction, innovation, integration and development".
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee also awarded the certificate of Nghe An's leading brand products in 2010 to 4 enterprises: Na Tate & Lyle Sugarcane Joint Venture Company; Hoang Mai Cement Joint Stock Company; Nghe An Tea Investment and Development One Member Co., Ltd. and Nghe An Agricultural Consulting Joint Stock Corporation.
