Railway industry reduces ticket prices on Hanoi-Lao Cai route by up to 25%

From December 1, Vietnam Railways Corporation will officially adjust ticket prices for trains SP1/2, SP3/4, SP5/6, SP7/8 on the Hanoi-Lao Cai route by 3-25% depending on seat type.

Accordingly, the lowest ticket price from Hanoi to Lao Cai of SP trains is 145,000 VND (hard seat) and the lowest sleeper ticket price of SP trains is 325,000 VND (sleeper in 6-storey compartment with 3 air conditioners).

Specifically, hard seat tickets are reduced from 150,000 VND to 145,000 VND; hard seat tickets with air conditioning are now only 175,000 VND (previously 235,000 VND); soft seat tickets with air conditioning are reduced from 280,000 VND to 22,000 VND (a reduction of 60,000 VND, equivalent to 25%).

Air-conditioned sleeper tickets for all compartments also have a sharp price adjustment, decreasing by 22-25%, such as air-conditioned sleeper tickets for the 6th floor, 1st floor, from 500,000 VND to 390,000 VND, air-conditioned sleeper tickets for the 2nd floor, from 370,000 VND, 3rd floor, from 415,000 VND to 325,000 VND (down 22%); air-conditioned sleeper tickets for the 4th floor, 1st and 2nd floor, are priced at 450,000 VND (compared to the previous price of 600,000 VND, down 25%).

Vietnam Railways Corporation will reduce train ticket prices for the 2015 Lunar New Year by 17% compared to current ticket prices, and by 20% compared to the 2014 Lunar New Year so that "people can use the railway as a convenient means of transportation at a reasonable cost."

This discount is part of the Railway Corporation's strategy to attract train passengers, creating conditions for everyone to use the railway as a convenient and easy means of transportation.

In recent times, the railway industry has continued to invest, upgrade equipment, innovate management, strengthen and improve service quality with the determination to increase output and revenue with the motto of taking customers as the center with the orientation of "Innovating, gradually regaining customers' trust to survive and develop" to build and implement measures; in which special attention is paid to measures to improve service quality.

From December 1, Vietnam Railways Corporation will also start selling Tet train tickets through the newly launched electronic ticketing system.

During the peak period of Lunar New Year, from February 8 to March 2, 2015 (ie December 20, Giap Ngo year to January 12, At Mui year), every day, the Railway Corporation organizes the operation of 14 pairs of Thong Nhat passenger trains with a total of 12,000 seats of all types/day to serve passengers from the South to the North and vice versa. During Tet holidays (30 and the first 3 days of the new year), 5 pairs of Thong Nhat trains are maintained to serve passengers returning home for a late Tet holiday, traveling and wishing a happy new year.

Many train pairs from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue, Quang Ngai, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet stations with about 3,000 seats/day; 17 trains from Hanoi to Vinh, Thanh Hoa with a total of 10,500 seats; 4 train pairs from Hanoi to Lao Cai run daily with 4,500 seats.

Previously, Vietnam Railways Corporation has repeatedly reduced ticket prices since the beginning of the year.

Specifically, the railway industry has a policy of reducing ticket prices by 30-50% during the train travel period from September 4 to December 31 if tickets are purchased many days in advance and the travel distance is 1,300km or more; reducing 30% from August 5 to August 28 if tickets are purchased 30 days or more in advance and the travel distance is 1,300km or more; reducing up to 10% during the summer period from July 5; reducing up to 8% after Tet from March 4 and after summer from September 4 to February 1, 2015.
