Increasing responsibility, dedication and devotion to students is a requirement that the Nghe An Department of Education and Training sets for teachers in the context that schools no longer organize extra teaching and learning according to Circular 29.

Raise responsibility

Nghe An Department of Education and Training has just issued a document to strengthen teaching and learning guidance for junior high and high school students and review for final year students in Nghe An.

The document was issued in the context that from February 14, schools will not organize extra classes and will only organize free teaching for 3 subjects: tutoring for weak students, nurturing excellent students and final year students.

Based on the above reality, the Department of Education and Training organized a core conference and agreed on a number of key tasks for semester 2, school year 2024-2025, focusing on tasks and solutions for effective implementation.General education program 2018, strengthen review for 9th and 12th grade students to participate well in the 10th grade High School Entrance Exam and the 2025 High School Graduation Exam.

Accordingly, the Department requires schools to thoroughly educate managers and teachers about the spirit and responsibility when performing professional tasks in semester 2, school year 2024 - 2025 in the context of the school year implementing the 2018 General Education Program for all grades and exams being organized for the first time according to the new program.

In addition, it is necessary to make efforts, determination, and overcome all difficulties to improve the quality of education, the quality of entrance exams for grade 10 high school, and the high school graduation exam, in order to ensure the rights of students in the exams. Regularly encourage managers and teachers to improve their sense of responsibility, dedication, and devotion to students to improve the quality of each teaching session and each of their professional tasks.

According to the Department's instructions, during the implementation process, it is necessary to disseminate and propagate to managers, teachers, staff, students and parents and organize implementation according to the contents related to extra teaching and learning to create sharing, support and consensus.

Timely grasp difficulties and problems in the implementation process to promptly reflect to the Department of Education and Training.

The test should not be overloaded with knowledge.

Because extra classes are not organized, in this document, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training also requires schools to ensure the quality of teaching in the classroom. Thereby, it is necessary to strictly implement the curriculum of subjects and educational activities according to the school's educational plan, ensuring the goals and requirements that need to be achieved.

In the teaching process, it is necessary to identify core knowledge and specific competencies of each subject, and prioritize classroom teaching time to develop them for students.

In addition, in addition to teaching to develop qualities and abilities, it is necessary to pay attention to and promote self-study guidance for students: how to implement and solve problems; how to take notes, systematize and memorize key knowledge; methods of searching for information, documents, and materials; building self-study plans suitable for individual abilities, etc.

In teaching, when assigning self-study tasks to students, it is necessary to be clear about the goals, content, requirements to be achieved and the implementation method. The formation of self-study capacity for students must be done step by step, with a process, suitable for their ability, age and subject characteristics. Strengthen coordination between teachers and parents in monitoring, grasping information and supporting students in self-study.

The school directs professional groups and teachers to compile question formats, periodic assessment tests, and competency assessment tests to serve the teaching, learning, testing, and evaluation process. Questions, periodic assessment tests, and competency assessment tests must closely follow the program's requirements and not create knowledge overload or cause difficulties for students.

Questions used in the teaching, testing and assessment process must closely follow the specific competencies of the subject with appropriate levels of thinking and need to approach the question formats for assessing competencies according to the structure of the high school graduation exam from 2025.

Priority for teachers and senior students

For grades 9 and 12, the Department of Education and Training directs secondary education institutions to organize for grade 9 students to register for review for the entrance exam to grade 10 high school according to the subjects announced by the Department; high schools organize for grade 12 students to register for review according to the graduation exam subjects, on that basis, arrange appropriate review classes.

The implementation process requires timely review and assessment of students' abilities; identifying issues that need to be fostered, supplemented, and improved to adjust teaching and review plans. Professional groups and teams review and adjust review content to suit the duration, subjects, and review forms.

Teachers also need to guide students to build review outlines; participate in practice on the Department's online testing system and on other online training systems. Strengthen solutions to deploy for students to participate in free mock tests on the online testing system according to Official Dispatch No. 182/SGD&DT-GDTrH dated February 5, 2025 of the Department of Education and Training. Schools direct subject teachers to guide students on test-taking techniques; draw experience after each test, thereby reviewing and supplementing knowledge and skills for students.

In preparation for the exams, the Department also requires schools to actively compile questions and exam papers according to the 2025 high school graduation exam structure to serve students' review and testing and evaluation. At the same time, the school's professional teams and groups are required to develop 1 exam paper (with answers)/subject, covering the curriculum up to grade 12, and send it to the Department before March 3, 2025 so that the Department can build a common question and exam bank for high schools to use in teaching, testing, evaluation, review and mock exams for students.

In order for teachers to have time to focus on reviewing for students, schools need to review and adjust professional assignments to prioritize teachers teaching final grades with subjects for the 10th grade entrance exam and high school graduation exam in 2025.

In addition, encourage managers and teachers to share difficulties, promote a sense of responsibility to review for students, guide and support them in the review process.

The stoptutoring, extra classes at schools will make it difficult for schools to implement teaching plans. Therefore, at this time, the Department hopes that teachers need to uphold their responsibilities and make efforts to organize free review sessions for final year students. In addition, the assessment and evaluation must be consistent with the requirements of the program, not creating pressure for students.
