Nghe An Transport Industry celebrates 73rd anniversary of tradition
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of August 27, Nghe An Department of Transport solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of its tradition (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2018). On the anniversary day, the organizing committee awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to comrade Nguyen Dang Che, former Head of Ben Thuy Ferry - Nghe An Department of Transport (now Nghe An Department of Transport).
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee: Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Cao Thi Hien - Vice Chairwoman of the People's Council; Le Xuan Dai - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors; and comrades who were former leaders and officials of the Nghe An Transport sector through different periods.
The speech of the ceremony affirmed: After 73 years of establishment, development and growth, the transport sector has proven its noble mission in the resistance wars of the nation. Many achievements of the Nghe An transport sector have been associated with place names, mountain names, river names, creating an unforgettable impression every time they are mentioned such as: Ben Thuy ferry, Quyet mountain, Truong Bon, Cam bridge, Bung bridge, Hoang Mai, Dien Thanh, Tret hill, Nghi Huong, Le canal,....

In the period from 1991 to 2015, implementing the Resolutions of the Provincial Party Congresses through the terms, Nghe An Transport sector has made important and breakthrough steps to lay the foundation for building infrastructure to serve the industrialization and modernization of the province.
Implementing Resolution 26 of the Politburo on the direction and tasks for the development of Nghe An province until 2020, the Resolution of the 18th Nghe An Provincial Party Congress (2015-2020), the Nghe An Transport sector has made new, steady, proactive and creative steps forward as the foundation and basis for the socio-economic development of the province.

In the period from 2015 to present, many key and important projects have been built, completed and put into operation with a total cost of about 10,100 billion VND. Some important key projects include: upgrading and expanding some sections on National Highway 15, National Highway 46, National Highway 48, National Highway 48B, National Highway 7B, Yen Xuan Bridge over Lam River, connecting road N5 - Southeast Economic Zone - Hoa Son (Do Luong), Hieu 2 Bridge, 2 railway overpasses,....
Currently, the industry is implementing a number of other important projects such as: Vinh - Cua Lo connecting road, Muong Xen - Ta Do - Khe Kien road, ...; preparing to invest in Nghi Son - Cua Lo coastal road, Cua Hoi bridge, North - South expressway. At the same time, the industry closely coordinates with localities to invest in the construction of the rural traffic system to create a solid infrastructure system for socio-economic development. By the end of 2018, the whole province has more than 6,200 km of rural traffic roads paved with cement concrete and asphalt.
Road transport continues to develop with a rapid increase in the quantity and quality of vehicles, increasingly meeting people's travel and freight needs.

The North-South railway transport route is increasingly effective. The adjustment of the planning to build Vinh airport into an international airport, along with the attention to investment and upgrading in recent times, has not only created a new political and diplomatic position but also created conditions to attract investors and develop the tourism industry of the province.
Along with that, Cua Lo port has been invested in dredging, ensuring the entry and exit of 20,000-ton ships; basically completing wharf No. 5 - Cua Lo port, putting into operation VISSAI international port to accommodate 70,000-ton ships.
The work of building, adjusting and supplementing plans has been directed with attention. Strengthening the implementation of administrative reform, strongly applying information technology in management and operation, especially in the field of testing and granting driving licenses, is considered by the Ministry of Transport as a bright spot in administrative reform of the industry.
The Department of Transport has advised the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Nghe An province to build infrastructure and ensure traffic safety corridors, thereby achieving the "3 reductions" targets on traffic safety. In addition, the sector has strengthened the appraisal and management of the quality of traffic works; maintenance and repair of roads and waterways; strengthened transport management and inspection; improved the quality of training, driving license testing, road motor vehicle inspection, etc.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong acknowledged and congratulated the results achieved by the provincial transport sector. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also congratulated Hero of the People's Armed Forces Nguyen Dang Che.
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong emphasized: Entering a new development stage, in the context of the country having many opportunities and advantages but also many difficulties and challenges, the tasks of the Nghe An Transport sector are still very heavy, requiring all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers to promote the achieved results, unite and strive to complete the assigned tasks well.
Emphasizing the tasks that need to be focused on implementing in the coming time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Transport sector to focus on directing the implementation of programs and projects to implement Resolution 26 of the Politburo on the direction and tasks for developing Nghe An province until 2020 in the field of transport.

Adhere to the strategy and planning for transport development approved by the Prime Minister to organize and implement investment in transport infrastructure with focus and key points. Focus on managing, maintaining and upgrading main roads and some important provincial roads; Invest in bus station systems, innovate vehicles to improve transport capacity, especially for passenger transport; Maintain and develop the movement of building rural roads, ensuring to meet and exceed the criteria specified in the National Target Program on New Rural Development.
At the same time, the transport sector needs to actively and proactively coordinate with investors to create favorable conditions for the implementation of key projects invested by the Central Government in the province: the North-South expressway in the East through Nghe An province, Cua Hoi bridge, North-South high-speed railway, etc.
In particular, the transport sector needs to mobilize maximum resources, especially socialized capital, including domestic capital, foreign capital, capital from programs and projects to invest in local transport infrastructure.
Along with that, pay attention to the harmonious and reasonable development of transportation methods; strengthen state management in all areas of the industry... contributing to socio-economic development, making Nghe An soon become a well-off province of the country as in the spirit of Resolution 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo.
