Nghe An Military Logistics Sector: Emulating to follow Uncle Ho's teachings
(Baonghean) - Over the past 20 years, especially in the period of 2010 - 2015, agencies and units under the Nghe An Provincial Military Command have regularly paid attention to leading, directing and implementing well the emulation movement "The Military Logistics Sector follows Uncle Ho's teachings" launched by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, so that the movement can increasingly spread and go into depth; ensure good logistics for the Provincial Military Command to perform well its regular tasks as well as combat readiness; contribute to building a clean and strong Provincial Military Party Committee and a comprehensively strong provincial armed force.
Implementing the emulation targets and resolutions of the Central Military Commission, the Military Region Party Committee, the Provincial Military Party Committee, the Logistics Department of the Provincial Military Command has proactively advised the relevant agencies to consolidate and maintain the operation of the Provincial Defense Zone Logistics Council, the Defense Zone Logistics Council of 21 districts, towns and cities and the grassroots People's Logistics Committees of 480 communes, wards and towns. The Logistics Department of the Provincial Military Command has advised on the good implementation of the tasks of planning and investing in infrastructure construction, organizing increased production, raising livestock, planting trees, and maintaining and repairing defense works at the rear bases and provincial and district-level logistics bases.

Based on the prescribed staffing framework, the sector has proactively advised the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command to appropriately staff logistics officers and employees for agencies and units. Along with political education activities, improving attitudes and sense of responsibility, the Logistics sector has organized training, competitions and sports events to improve the professional qualifications of its staff. In particular, the sector has successfully organized a logistics training course for production assistants of the Military Command of Xieng Khouang province - neighboring Laos, contributing to further enhancing the special solidarity and friendship.
Thoroughly implementing the resolution, agencies and units in the provincial military regularly maintain and preserve the quantity and quality of combat-ready materials; prepare well the forces and means to ensure combat readiness, natural disaster prevention, and respond to all sudden and unexpected situations. Striving to achieve the standards of a "5-good" military medical unit, the medical staff of the provincial military command actively study and improve their professional qualifications, ensuring the unit's target of healthy personnel reaching 93.3% or more. Carrying out the mission of field trips to do mass mobilization work, the unit's medical staff organized free medical examinations and medicine in Nam Giai commune, Que Phong district, leaving good feelings in the hearts of the people... Practicing thrift, agencies and units actively studied the terrain and weather of the stationed area to determine effective production models, contributing to improving and enhancing the lives of soldiers. Implementing the self-sufficiency target well, up to now, the system of gardens, trellises, ponds, and barns in the units have all been invested in basic construction.
From the movement, a number of creative and effective models and methods have emerged: Tan Ky District Military Command took advantage of the low-lying area in front of the barracks to build a fish pond combined with raising ducks. In 2014, the District Military Command took advantage of the hilly area behind the barracks to grow fresh turmeric. After 1 year, the unit harvested nearly 1 ton of turmeric, the estimated revenue was over 40 million VND. Hung Nguyen District Military Command took advantage of the land behind the barracks, planned and built an automatic irrigation system, ensuring enough green vegetables for the unit and also had products to sell to the market. In 2012, when moving to the new barracks, staff of Nghia Dan District Military Command transported fertile soil from TH farm to improve the growing land. Up to now, the District Military Command has a concentrated growing area of over 500m2 with many types of vegetables and tubers; In particular, there is a concentrated livestock area of over 500m2 with 2 buffaloes, 4 wild boars and over 100 chickens and geese of all kinds. Although the barracks and growing land area are small, the officers and employees of the Dien Chau District Military Command have actively cultivated vegetables and tubers to ensure that the standards for green vegetables for the kitchen are met; in addition, the unit regularly maintains a pig herd with 1 sow and 20 pigs for meat, and a flock of over 60 chickens and geese.
In addition, agencies and units have focused on implementing well the work of military uniforms and supplies, implementing well the movement "Good kitchen for soldiers, good management", maintaining the order of the canteen and kitchen regimes according to regulations, gradually improving the quality of daily meals of the troops. The provincial Military Logistics sector has overcome difficulties, ensuring good logistics in regular tasks as well as combat readiness tasks, in natural disaster prevention, ensuring the Gathering Team to perform international tasks in Laos. During the year-end comprehensive exercises, the provincial Military carried out long-term marches and stays through many terrain and weather conditions, sometimes far from the people and water sources. In implementing the emulation movement "Building and managing standard, green, clean and beautiful barracks", the Logistics sector has started to build and put into use many new barracks, creating a new face for many agencies and units. Typically, the Yen Thanh District Military Command has invested funds, purchased interior equipment, ensured clean, spacious, standard and highly unified housing for officers and soldiers, and ensured timely fuel to serve training, drills and mobility tasks. The Military Transport sector has mobilized the unit's efforts and funds to preserve and repair motorbikes and boats, serving well the tasks of mobilizing forces and vehicles of the provincial armed forces.
With the spirit of solidarity, creativity, and high will to strive, over the past 5 years, the provincial Military Logistics sector has achieved many remarkable achievements: In 2011, it was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of National Defense; continuously from 2010 to 2014, it was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Party Committee - Military Region IV Command in the movement "Military Logistics Sector follows Uncle Ho's teachings"; The Logistics Department of the Provincial Military Command has achieved the title of "Determined to Win Unit" for 2 consecutive years; Hundreds of officers and employees of the sector have achieved the titles of "Basic Emulation Fighter", "Advanced Fighter". The achievements in the past time are a solid premise for officers and soldiers of the provincial Military Logistics sector to continue to strive to achieve high achievements in the emulation movement "Military Logistics Sector follows Uncle Ho's teachings" in the next phase, ensuring good Logistics for the Provincial Military Command to perform regular tasks as well as be ready to fight, and excellently complete all tasks.
