On the morning of January 15, Nghe An Department of Health held a conference to summarize medical work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025.
Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended and gave a speech at the conference; also attending were representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Provincial Party Committee Office; Provincial People's Council's Culture and Social Affairs Department; Provincial Party Committee of Provincial Agencies; departments, branches, localities in the province; medical units in the province.
Many new achievements
In 2024, the medical industryeconomyNghe An has performed well the assigned tasks. The field of public health care continues to achieve many important achievements. Accordingly, the directives, resolutions, projects and documents of the superiors have been consulted, directed and implemented promptly and effectively by the sector. 11/12 main targets set by the sector have been achieved and exceeded the plan; 5/5 targets of the Resolution of the 19th Nghe An Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025, and 6/6 targets assigned by the Provincial People's Council.

In particular, in professional practice, there were no major infectious diseases in the province. The total number of medical examinations and treatments at medical examination and treatment facilities during the year was more than 7,000,000, an increase of more than 23,000 compared to 2023. The total number of inpatient treatments was more than 846,000.
Medical examination and treatment facilities have deployed many advanced, specialized techniques, especially at the central level. Nghe An Oncology Hospital has been assigned by the Ministry of Health to be the final line of technical expertise in medical examination and treatment in the North Central region. Nghe An General Friendship Hospital has been recognized by the Ministry of Health as qualified to perform liver transplantation techniques from living donors and brain-dead people.

Last year, the health sector also promoted the effective application of information technology in health administration and management. The province currently has 12 hospitals and health centers implementing electronic medical records. The rate of cashless payments at hospitals in the entire sector reached 48.38%. 97% of the population has electronic health records.
In addition to the achievements, the health sector still has many shortcomings, difficulties and problems. These are: The shortage of drugs, medical supplies and equipment has not been completely resolved. The conditions for timely and quality medical examination and treatment for patients in some units and facilities have not been met. Primary health care and preventive medicine still have many difficulties and have not met their tasks.

The quality of administration, management, and operation of hospitals and medical facilities and the service attitude of some facilities sometimes and in some places do not meet the requirements. The implementation of autonomy in hospitals and medical centers still faces many difficulties, especially the problem of human resources. At the conference, the delegates focused on analyzing and evaluating the achievements, shortcomings, limitations, and tasks of the industry and units in the coming time. Including key tasks in 3 pillars: management and operation of the industry and units; prevention work; medical examination and treatment.
Focus on solving difficulties for medical facilities
Based on the comments,Health sectorhas set out goals, directions, and tasks for 2025 along with 13 groups of solutions to carry out the tasks, which are: Strengthening the effectiveness of State management of health; continuing to improve the quality of professional activities in medical examination, treatment, and disease prevention at all levels; preventing disease outbreaks and widespread spread; strictly controlling and ensuring food safety; effectively implementing population work; ensuring adequate supply of drugs, supplies, vaccines, and medical biological products to meet the needs of medical examination, treatment, disease prevention, and safe and rational use of drugs.

Strengthening innovation in operating mechanisms, implementing autonomy in organizing apparatus, human resources and health finance, and actively implementing health socialization to increase investment resources for health; promoting administrative reform, applying information technology in medical examination and treatment, and health insurance payment.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long commended and acknowledged the results achieved by the health sector in 2024. Agreeing with the direction and 13 groups of solutions proposed by the health sector, comrade Bui Dinh Long suggested: The Department of Health needs to review all difficulties and problems and focus on solving bottlenecks and difficulties that health units are facing, for example, the issue of bidding for drugs and medical supplies.

The Department of Health needs to advise the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee on necessary mechanisms and policies to serve the development of the health sector and the cause of protecting and taking care of people's health. The immediate task is to advise on the arrangement of units according to Resolution 18. The Department of Health also needs to do a good job of evaluating units and localities in implementing people's health care work, and promptly report to the province.
Districts, cities and towns need to continue to have priority policies and support investment in healthcare development in their localities; coordinate with the health sector to effectively implement food safety, population, family planning, and management of private medical and pharmaceutical practices.
Medical units need to continue to do a good job of environmental sanitation, building green - clean - beautiful medical facilities; do a good job of administration, improve hospital quality; fully deploy the list of medical examination and treatment, develop high technology.
