High on drugs, husband kills wife after seeing her face "transform"
Having hallucinations and seeing his wife's face deformed, Nguyen Thanh Tuan took many metal objects and stabbed his wife to death.
On November 14, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court of First Instance sentenced defendant Nguyen Thanh Tuan (born 1985, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) to death for the crime of "Murder".
According to the indictment, Nguyen Thanh Tuan and Nguyen Mai Thuy Tien have lived together as husband and wife since 2014. At about 9:00 p.m. on September 6, 2017, Tuan and his wife used crystal meth together in their rented room.

At 1am the next morning, high on drugs, Tuan saw Tien's face as a skull. Tuan imagined he was about to be attacked, so he beat and stabbed his wife with many metal objects.
After regaining consciousness, Tuan saw his wife lying unconscious on the floor. He panicked and tried to run away but failed. When the police discovered the incident, the victim had died. At the investigation agency, Tuan admitted to the crime.
At the first instance trial, defendant Tuan explained that he acted brutally because he was high on drugs and had hallucinations, so he could not control his actions. The defendant pleaded guilty and asked the law for leniency.
Before that, Tuan had to go to compulsory drug rehabilitation. Not long after returning, Tuan was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for "Illegal possession of drugs". After serving his prison term, Tuan did not improve and continued to use drugs.
