High on drugs, set fire to house, wanted to commit suicide

Police discovered a young man barricading himself in the burning house, threatening to jump off the building if anyone broke in.

On March 30, Bim Son Town Police (Thanh Hoa) detained suspect Vu Xuan Huong (26 years old, in Dong Son ward) to investigate the act of property destruction.

At around 11am the same day, the second floor of Mr. Vu Xuan Mong’s house in Dong Son ward, Bim Son town caught fire fiercely. People tried to put out the fire but failed, so they called the police. More than 20 firefighters and specialized vehicles were mobilized to the scene to put out the fire.

While fighting the fire, police discovered the homeowner’s son, Vu Xuan Huong, barricading himself in the house and intending to jump off the building. Rescuers had to inflate an air mattress and approach to restrain him.

After 20 minutes, the fire was extinguished but many belongings were burned.

The cause of the fire was determined to be Huong using crystal meth and not being able to control his behavior, so he burned down the house.
