May 28: Launching the youth journey for the homeland's sea and islands
Nearly 200 delegates participated in the journey. Mr. Dang Quoc Toan, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, was the head of the Journey delegation.
On May 28, the 2014 Youth Journey for the Homeland's Sea and Islands will be launched at Cat Lai Port - Ho Chi Minh City. The journey is organized by the Central Youth Union in coordination with the Navy Command.
The journey was attended by nearly 200 delegates from many localities and socio-political organizations, including 90 delegates who are typical young faces of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Youth Union officials, young entrepreneurs, young doctors, students, artists, doctors, journalists, etc.

Mr. Dang Quoc Toan, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, is the leader of the Journey. The journey will take place in 10 days (from May 28 to June 6, 2014) through the islands of Truong Sa archipelago and DK1 platform. During the journey, the delegation will also grasp the actual situation and living conditions of the soldiers and people of Truong Sa island district and DK1 platform, and conduct research on two projects: wind-powered lighting projects on the islands and research on building artificial turf football fields on the islands.
According to the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, through the Journey, the youth of the whole country, through practical and concrete actions, expressed their support and created spiritual motivation for the soldiers and people on the island. After many years of organization, the Youth Journey for the Homeland's Sea and Islands has truly become an activity of great political significance for young people and all Vietnamese people living in all parts of the country as well as abroad to turn to the Fatherland and express their strong determination in protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Vietnam's seas and islands.
Currently, the total amount of money and gifts donated by organizations, businesses and individuals to support cadres, soldiers and people of Truong Sa archipelago is worth over 2 billion VND, including a color ultrasound machine worth 800 million VND, in addition to practical items serving daily life and work such as photocopiers, computers, televisions, water pumps, medical equipment, medical medicines, bean sprout machines, school supplies, sports equipment, necessities, specialties of different regions...
During the Journey, the Journey Organizing Committee will launch a competition movement with many activities such as: organizing photo contests, skill contests, writing literature, poetry, songs, cultural and artistic activities, Military Semester at Sea, writing a diary "Youth Journey for the Sea and Islands of the Homeland" ... Organizing thematic talks, watching documentaries, broadcasting on the ship's loudspeaker system to review the glorious tradition of the history of the heroic Vietnam People's Navy and knowledge of sea and island sovereignty. In particular, the bridge between the frontline in Truong Sa and the rear on the mainland will be connected by young people by making reportage clips sending feelings, words of encouragement and greetings from relatives on the mainland to Truong Sa soldiers and vice versa./.
