On September 3, the Vietnamese team gathered.
General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Ngo Le Bang said that on August 23, the VFF Standing Committee will meet in Hanoi to review for the last time the terms of the contract to be signed with Coach Phan Thanh Hung (Hanoi T&T).
Before the meeting, VFF completed negotiations with Mr. Hung on specific details for the 16-month contract.

According to Mr. Ngo Le Bang, Coach Phan Thanh Hung will be responsible for leading the Vietnam national team and U-23 Vietnam from September 2012 to December 31, 2012. Although the specific salary has not been announced, according to Tuoi Tre's source, Mr. Hung's monthly salary is many times higher than the monthly salary received from the club.
When the national team gathers (or the U-23 Vietnam team), Coach Phan Thanh Hung will receive his full salary. During the remaining time (the team is not gathering), Mr. Hung will receive a lower salary but still do other tasks of a national team head coach (planning training, preparing lesson plans, observing good players for selection...). It is expected that on August 24, VFF will sign a contract and hold a ceremony to introduce the new head coach of the national team and the U-23 Vietnam team in Hanoi.
Mr. Ngo Le Bang said that on September 3, the Vietnamese team will gather in Hanoi, on September 11, they will play a friendly match with the Malaysian team - the current AFF Suzuki Cup champion, on September 12, they will fly straight from Malaysia to Indonesia to play a friendly match with the Indonesian team on September 15. On September 22, the Vietnamese team will play the return friendly match with Indonesia at My Dinh Stadium. The VFF has agreed to send the Vietnamese team to play a friendly match with host Singapore on October 16.
After the match with Singapore, the Vietnamese team will gather in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the VFF Cup taking place at Thong Nhat Stadium from October 24 to 28. The tournament will also include the DPRK, Iran U-22 and Uzbekistan teams. On November 20, the Vietnamese team will leave for Bangkok (Thailand) to compete in the group stage of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012. Before that, the Vietnamese team will have their final friendly match at My Dinh Stadium with the Malaysian team on November 3.
