At 7:00 a.m. today (May 22), the opening ceremony of the election of the 13th National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2011-2016 term took place simultaneously at 85 polling stations with 31,722 voters participating in the voting in 10 communes in Tuong Duong district. Two days earlier (May 20), due to the characteristics of a mountainous district, Tuong Duong was allowed to hold early elections for 20,934 voters in 10 communes. In this election, Tuong Duong district had 52,166 voters elected 2 National Assembly deputies, 3 provincial People's Council deputies, 35 district People's Council deputies and 455 commune People's Council deputies. In this election, Luu Kien commune has 2,100 voters, with 5 voting groups. The commune has people from 2 ethnic minorities, Mong and Thai. Before the election day, the villages organized a general cleaning of the village roads, and agencies and departments sent staff to help ethnic minorities decorate, check the list and voter cards... Mr. Vi Van Vinh - Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Luu Kien commune - Tuong Duong, wished: "Candidates elected as National Assembly and People's Council deputies must pay more attention to the border areas, put forward reasonable policies to help ethnic minorities improve their knowledge, create conditions for them to develop socio-economically, and shorten the gap between the mountainous areas and the lowlands".

However, due to the difficult traffic conditions in Tuong Duong district, among the 85 voting groups, there is one voting group at Ban Ve Hydropower Plant for people who have not yet relocated to the reservoir area, but so far no voters have come out in time to vote.
