(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 23, in Vinh city, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation of Nghe An province organized the Blood Donation Festival "Red Journey 2014 - Connecting Vietnamese Blood".
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Tran Thi Huong - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, Member of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee; Meritorious Doctor Bach Quoc Khanh - Deputy Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion - Deputy Organizing Committee of the Red Journey 2014; Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee; Nguyen Luong Hong - Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society; representatives of leaders of departments and branches in the province and hundreds of volunteers of the program, thousands of people in the province came to donate blood to save lives.

“Red Journey - Connecting Vietnamese Blood” is a national voluntary blood donation program across Vietnam organized by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (Ministry of Health) to focus on promoting the voluntary blood donation movement and Thalassemia. The Red Journey 2014 was organized in 38 provinces and cities nationwide, of which 25 provinces and cities were stops for the trans-Vietnam journey. The Red Journey 2014 is expected to call for and mobilize 20,000 people to participate in voluntary blood donation festivals in the provinces and cities where the journey passes through, striving to collect about 19,000 units of blood.

Nghe An is the 14th stop of the Red Journey 2014. Responding to and accompanying the program, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation of Nghe An province has developed a plan to organize the launching ceremony of "Giọt hồng thành Vinh" calling on everyone to donate blood during the Blood Donation Festival, and at the same time coordinating with "Red Journey 2014 - Connecting Vietnamese Blood" throughout the journey of the delegation through Nghe An province. Speaking at the Blood Donation Festival, comrade Le Xuan Dai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Head of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation of Nghe An province called on: leaders, managers, groups, individuals, youth union members, students and people of all walks of life to contribute to the voluntary blood donation movement, imbued with the ideal of "Donating blood to save people - A noble gesture", donating blood to save patients is the responsibility and sacred duty of every citizen.
