On the third day of Tet, the country had the most traffic accidents and the most deaths (37 people), including a particularly serious traffic accident in Chuong My district, Hanoi at 3:00 p.m. on February 9 at km 29+100. A truck with license plate 29S-3725, traveling from Hoa Binh to Hanoi, crashed into three motorbikes going in the opposite direction, killing three people and injuring three others.

In Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, and Ho Chi Minh City, traffic conditions involving people riding motorbikes and mopeds without helmets, carrying 3 or 4 people, weaving in and out of traffic, going the wrong way, running red lights, and not complying with traffic safety laws occur in some places.
