Nghe An: Nearly 200 people died in traffic accidents in 1 year

(Baonghean.vn) - According to the Traffic Police Department, from November 16, 2016 to November 15, 2017, in Nghe An province, there were 307 traffic accidents, killing 199 people, injuring 228 people, and damaging 196 cars and 248 motorbikes.

Of these, 291 road traffic accidents occurred, killing 189 people and injuring 220 people; 16 railway traffic accidents occurred, killing 10 people and injuring 8 people.

According to analysis, the main causes of accidents are due to drivers not paying attention (94 cases, 61 deaths); not staying in the correct lane (84 cases, 54 deaths, 78 injuries).

Traffic accidents caused by car drivers were 145 cases, killing 76 people and injuring 95 people; by motorbike drivers were 125 cases, killing 95 people and injuring 108 people. The majority of accidents were caused by men (290 cases, killing 189 people and injuring 220 people).
