(Baonghean.vn) - Up to now, 10 retail gas stations in Nghe An have submitted applications to the Department of Industry and Trade to stop operations for various reasons, the most common of which is prolonged losses.

According to the synthesis of Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade, out of 10 retail petrol stations, there are 4 petrol stations in Yen Thanh district: Ngoc Vinh petrol station (Ngoc Vinh Private Enterprise) in hamlet 2, Tang Thanh commune; Kim Hoa petrol station (Kim Hoa Petroleum Private Enterprise) in team 9, Van Thanh commune; Yen Thanh Food Petro station (Thanh Nghe Tinh Food Joint Stock Company) in block 2, Yen Thanh town; Dong Tam Kinh Bac petrol station (Dong Tam Kinh Bac Petroleum Company Limited) in hamlet 7, Lang Thanh commune.

In addition, the remaining 6 establishments include: Thanh Cong Petroleum Store (Ngoc Mai Transport Service Trading Joint Stock Company) on National Highway 1A, km80, Hoang Mai Stone Quarry Industrial Park, Quynh Thien Ward; Van Huong Petroleum Store (Van Huong Trading and Service Company Limited) in Phuong Kieu Hamlet, Trung Phuc Cuong Commune, Nam Dan District; Thanh Chien Petroleum Store (Thanh Chien Petroleum Private Enterprise) in Trung Tam Hamlet, Nghia Phuc Commune, Tan Ky District; Nghia Hong Petroleum Store (Que Dung Private Enterprise) in Hong Tien Hamlet, Nghia Hong Commune, Nghia Dan District; Ngoc Hang Petroleum Store (Ngoc Hang Private Enterprise) in Khe Choang Village, Chau Khe Commune, Que Phong District; and Huong Lien Petroleum Store (Huong Lien Private Enterprise) in Dong Cham Hamlet, Nam Cat Commune, Nam Dan District.

Speaking to reporters, representatives of some petroleum retail businesses in Nghe An said that their business has been continuously losing money in the context of difficult supply sources, with sources limiting sales and cutting discounts. Petroleum is a conditional business, with price control and subject to the State's management and intervention. Maintaining a fixed discount is currently inappropriate and does not create a competitive incentive; a store selling 100 m3 of petroleum per month and a seller selling 1,000 m3 of petroleum per month are paid the same.

Therefore, if the State wants to stabilize the gasoline market, it should set a minimum discount rate for retail businesses. In fact, to build a gas station, a business must spend about 6 billion VND. When deducting initial investments such as bank loans, gasoline transportation costs, labor, electricity, water, taxes, etc., each liter of gasoline is about 500 VND. If the business is favorable, the gas station owner will have a profit of 20 - 30 million VND/month.

“That’s for normal stores. For over a year now, many businesses have had their discounts cut continuously, and have suffered losses to the point of having to close because they no longer have the money to maintain their operations…”, he said.
