(Baonghean.vn) - While burning votive paper, a group of people were attacked by a swarm of wild bees nearby, causing 14 people to be hospitalized all night.

This rare incident happened on June 7, 2017 at a cemetery in Hamlet 8, Thanh Hung Commune, Thanh Chuong District.

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Binh, 87 years old - the oldest person and also the one who was stung the most by bees, he gave details: At that time, at about 2:30 p.m., after the 100-day ceremony of an old lady, 16 people including brothers and relatives brought votive paper to the grave to burn.

As soon as the fire was lit, suddenly a swarm of wild bees from the nearby eucalyptus trees rushed over to attack. Everyone ran into the bushes and jumped into nearby streams to hide.

The victims who were stung the most by bees were Mr. Tran Van Dien, Mr. Tran Van Thang, Mr. Tran Thanh Binh, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, and Mr. Phan Dinh Hieu (Hamlet 8). The person who was stung the most, about 30-40 times, the person who was stung the least, only 3-4 times. The oldest person to have been stung was Mr. Tran Thanh Binh (87 years old), fortunately there were no children.

Mr. Dien said that most people were stung by bees on the face, head, neck, back... causing sharp pain, swollen face and lips, squinting eyes, vomiting... This is a type of bee that has honey and is aggressive. Hearing that people visiting graves were stung by bees, Mr. Dien's family and brothers quickly went to the cemetery to take all 14 victims to the infirmary. At the infirmary, everyone was injected and given antidote...

At about 7:30 p.m. the same day, the victims' health condition was stable, so they were allowed to go home.

An employee of Thanh Hung Commune Health Station said that this was a historic emergency for the unit. By 11 p.m. the same day, everyone had recovered and returned home. The beehive alone was captured by some bee hunters from Thanh Duc Commune and yielded more than 7 liters of honey.

As of noon on June 8, many people stung by bees in Hamlet 8, Thanh Hung Commune still had swollen faces, lips, heads, necks, and eyes.

Commune and hamlet authorities are warning people to stay away from the cemetery area because some new nests have just been discovered./.
