Nghe An: 400 international students exchange with Vietnamese families

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of January 8, the Nghe An Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations held a seminar on the program of receiving international students for friendship exchange at Vietnamese families - homestay.

The program aims to create conditions for international students studying and researching in Nghe An to interact, learn and become familiar with the customs, practices and traditional cultural life of Vietnamese families.

Thereby, creating an environment for foreign students to participate in cultural and social activities, integrate deeply, improve communication skills in Vietnamese to study and acquire knowledge conveniently. At the same time, connecting solidarity and friendship between Nghe An province in particular, Vietnam in general with international friends.

Mr. Ngo Dang Muoi - General Secretary of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations reported on the results of 4 years of implementing the Homestay program.

The Homestay Friendship Exchange Program is one of the innovative ways of people-to-people diplomacy of the Nghe An Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations. After 4 years of implementation, the program has connected with 4 schools including Vinh University, Vinh Technical Pedagogical University, Vinh Medical University and Nghe An University of Economics.

Lao and Thai students give gifts to relatives of candidates taking the 2016 National High School Exam.

The organization brought nearly 400 Lao and Thai students with hundreds of friendship exchanges at the families of Vietnamese - Lao volunteer soldiers, the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association, the Ethnic Committee of Nghe An province, the Provincial Border Guard Command, and two residential blocks of Dong Lam and Trung Dong, Hung Dung ward, Vinh city.

Delegates and students from Laos and Thailand attended the ceremony.

At the same time, the Nghe An Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations also organizes activities to take international students to visit historical sites such as Kim Lien Relic Site, Vietnam-Laos Cemetery, Dong Loc T-junction, Quang Trung King Temple, Truong Bon... thereby promoting education on traditions and noble international spirit.

At the conference, delegates contributed many comments, exchanged ideas to gain experience, discussed solutions to make the program more systematic and improve operational efficiency./.
