(Baonghean.vn) - The People's Committee of Nghe An province has just approved a decision to recognize the achievement of standards for eliminating illiteracy, universalizing preschool education for 5-year-old children, universalizing primary education, and universalizing lower secondary education in 2018 in the locality.

Regarding universal education levels: For preschool level, Nghe An has 100% of districts, cities and towns meeting the standards of universal preschool education for 5-year-old children.

Regarding universal primary education, 19/21 units have met the universalization standard of level 3. The remaining two units have only met the universalization standard of level 2, namely Que Phong and Ky Son districts. The main reason is that in these localities there are still many separate schools and the facilities are not guaranteed. Specifically, Ky Son district still has 110 separate schools and more than 140 temporary classrooms. Que Phong district still has 81 separate schools and 110 temporary classrooms. Some units do not have enough teachers to organize teaching 2 sessions/day.

In addition, the investigation and data processing work still faces some difficulties due to poor household registration management in localities. The declaration of date, month, year of birth, full name of PCGDTH subjects of ethnic minorities in mountainous and border areas is not uniform.

Regarding universal secondary education, the whole province has 6 units meeting the standard of level 1; 14 units meeting the standard of level 2; Vinh city alone meets the standard of universal secondary education level 3. Units meeting the standard of level 1 are due to the secondary school graduation rate and the rate of vocational students after secondary school not meeting the standard. Notably, among the 6 localities with low universalization quality, in addition to the mountainous districts of Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Que Phong, there are also 2 plain localities of Quynh Luu and Hoang Mai town.

Particularly, regarding illiteracy eradication, in 2018, Nghe An mobilized and organized teaching for 1,319 illiteracy eradication and post-literacy continuing education students; 254 secondary school level continuing education students.
