Nghe An: 7 people injured and killed in traffic accidents during New Year's Eve

From December 29, 2018 to January 1, 2019, in Nghe An province, there were 5 traffic accidents, killing 3 people and injuring 4.people; 6 cars and 3 motorbikes were damaged. Of which, 5 road accidents occurred, killing 3 people and injuring 4.people; 6 cars and 3 motorbikes were damaged. There were no traffic accidents on railways or waterways.

The Traffic Police force organized 339 patrols with 1,191 officers and soldiers participating, detecting and making administrative records on traffic safety and order in 559 cases.

Of these, 220 cases were committed by car drivers (67 by passenger cars, 92 by trucks, 41 by cars, 20 by taxis), and 339 cases were committed by motorbike and scooter drivers. The authorities also temporarily detained 14 cars, 73 motorbikes, and scooters; issued decisions to fine 500 cases, and transferred the fine to the treasury for collection of 472,090,000 VND.

The main violations include people riding motorbikes and scooters without helmets in 157 cases; not having a driving license in 59 cases; carrying more passengers than the prescribed number in 20 cases; violating alcohol concentration in 31 cases; and exceeding the prescribed speed in 79 cases.

According to the assessment of the authorities, during the 4-day New Year holiday in 2019, traffic safety and order in Nghe An were stable, with no traffic jams.
