(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Provincial People's Committee has just issued urgent dispatch No. 33/CD-UBND dated October 23 on focusing on directing the work of preventing and controlling livestock and poultry diseases in the current period.
The telegram stated: In the areaNghe AnIn the first 9 months of the year, there were 64 outbreaks of African swine fever, 3 outbreaks of avian influenza, and 10 outbreaks of rabies. In particular, recently, African swine fever is at risk of spreading widely in Yen Thanh, Dien Chau, and Quy Hop districts.

It is forecasted that in the coming time, especially in the last months of 2023 and early 2024, there is a high risk of disease outbreaks and spread, due to some localities being subjective and negligent in disease prevention and control; the rate of spring vaccination for livestock in some localities is still low...
Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 7261/BNN-TY, dated October 9, 2023 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on strengthening disease prevention and control for livestock, the Provincial People's Committee requests the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities; Directors of departments, heads of relevant provincial-level sectors to resolutely and synchronously implement measures to prevent and control animal diseases, focusing on the following contents:
Districts where the disease is occurringAfrican swine fever, focus all resources to drastically implement prevention and control solutions, not to let the epidemic spread, prolong and cause new outbreaks. Strictly implement the directives of the Provincial People's Committee: Decision No. 812/QD-UBND dated March 19, 2019 of the Provincial People's Committee on promulgating an emergency response scenario for African swine fever in Nghe An; Decision No. 3385/QD-UBND dated October 1, 2020 on approving the plan for prevention and control of African swine fever for the period 2020 - 2025.

Organize vaccination for livestock and poultry in the fall of 2023, ensuring the vaccination rate reaches over 80% of the total herd.
Actively monitor livestock diseases to detect early, warn and handle new outbreaks; promptly and fully report the disease situation from the grassroots to the commune, district and provincial levels in accordance with regulations. Strictly handle cases of concealment and failure to report, leading to widespread disease spread, affecting people and the community.
Carry out sanitation, disinfection, and sterilization of livestock environments in the area; focus on epidemic areas, areas at high risk of epidemics, and flooded areas.
Allocate funding to implement approved animal disease prevention and control plans locally in 2024 and following years.
Establish inspection teams to monitor, urge and guide measures to prevent hunger, cold, epidemics, vaccination and biosafety in livestock farming. Strengthen inspection and control of transportation and slaughter of animals and animal products; organize prevention and strict handling of violations of regulations...
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has established a working group to go to high-risk localities to inspect and urge the work of disease prevention and control, hunger and cold in the coming time.
Prepare adequate vaccines, chemicals, materials... to proactively prevent and control epidemics, handle newly emerging outbreaks in small areas, and implement high vaccination rates for the 2023 autumn crop.
