Nghe An: Kidnapping neighbor's child to blackmail via Facebook messages
(Baonghean.vn) - Duc often sent Facebook messages to the family with images of a knife held to the child's neck and sent them via Facebook, demanding that Ms. Lien's family pay a ransom of 50 million VND.
On the morning of June 2, Dien Chau District Police said they had arrested Nguyen Van Duc, residing in Hamlet 3, Dien Thang Commune, for kidnapping children for ransom.

Previously, on May 31, Dien Chau District Police received a report from Ms. Tran Thi Lien, residing in Hamlet 3, Dien Thang Commune, about her son, Le Hong Son, born in 2006, who was invited by Nguyen Van Duc, born in 1999, a person in the same hamlet, to go out since the afternoon of May 30 and has not returned yet.
The family tried to contact Duc but could not. Duc then frequently sent Facebook messages to the family showing a picture of him holding a knife to the child’s neck and demanding that Lien’s family pay a ransom of 50 million VND to release Son. He also frequently changed his location and phone number.

At 9:00 a.m. on June 1, using professional measures, Dien Chau District Police caught Nguyen Van Duc red-handed while he was hiring a taxi to take Son to receive ransom money at Hamlet 7, Dien Phuc Commune, rescued Son safely, and confiscated 20 million VND in cash.
Immediately afterwards, Son was handed over to his family by the police.
