Nghe An converts the purpose of using 113.7 hectares of forest

(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An's current forest cover rate is 57%, among the highest in the country.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, by March 2019, the Department had advised the Provincial People's Committee to approve 24 decisions allowing 20 projects to convert a total area of ​​113,7975 hectares of forest and forestry land to other purposes.

Of which, land with planted forests is 52.03 ha (including protective forests: 19.25 ha, production forests: 32.77 ha); land without forests: 55.33 ha, other land in forestry: 6.4316 ha.

Forest conversion in recent years has mainly served mineral, industrial, road, hydropower projects... and all have environmental impact assessment reports approved by competent authorities.

The total amount paid to the fund from projects converting forest use purposes by the end of 2018 was 6.19 billion VND; of which: 4.2 billion VND was collected from projects that had been converted but had not paid money from previous years.

Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An is advising the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development a report to the Prime Minister for consideration of converting the purpose of using natural forests for 63 projects that need to convert natural forests in the province according to the provisions of Decision No. 390-QD-TTg dated April 11, 2018 of the Prime Minister on promulgating the plan to implement the Forestry Law and the Fisheries Law.
