Nghe An province has 147,000 households of outstanding farmers.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 11th, in Vinh City, the Provincial People's Committee held a working session with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Farmers' Association to evaluate the results of the coordination efforts in 2015.

Comrade Dinh Viet Hong – Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee – presided over the meeting. Also attending the meeting were representatives from relevant departments, agencies, and organizations.

Overview of the working session to evaluate the results of one year of cooperation between the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the Nghe An Farmers' Association.

In 2015, based on a coordinated program, the Nghe An Provincial Farmers' Association developed and implemented many vibrant emulation movements at all levels of the farmers' association. Over 253,000 households registered to participate throughout the province, of which nearly 147,000 achieved the title of excellent producers and business operators; the number of households with an income exceeding 200 million VND/year doubled compared to 2014.

Through mutual support and solidarity models, 150,000 seasonal jobs and 100 permanent jobs have been created locally. The Provincial People's Committee provided 540 million VND to the Farmers' Association in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to build 5 economic models, each generating an average income of 160 to 180 million VND; farmers' associations at all levels have actively contributed to the implementation of the New Rural Development program, with 44 communes being recognized.

Mr. Tran Van Huong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, reported on the results of the coordinated work, highlighting the training provided to nearly 9,000 rural workers.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Nhi, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, delivered a speech highlighting some outstanding achievements as well as existing limitations in coordination with relevant departments and agencies.

In addition to the above results, the Association also coordinated with the Provincial Border Guard, relevant departments and agencies, and the provincial press to propagate and encourage members to comply well with the Party's guidelines and policies in border and island areas, actively promoting the use of Vietnamese goods by Vietnamese people; providing vocational training for nearly 9,000 rural workers; effectively managing the farmer support fund; providing training to improve knowledge on the application of science and technology in production; and coordinating participation in monitoring and providing feedback on policies and mechanisms related to agriculture, rural areas, and farmers.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Lam, Deputy Director of the Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, reported on the results of the Department's cooperation with the Farmers' Association.

During the meeting, along with reviewing the results of the 2015 coordination, representatives from the Provincial Farmers' Association and several relevant departments and agencies boldly pointed out some existing shortcomings. Based on clarifying the causes, representatives from these departments and agencies also proposed some directions and solutions to overcome these issues and improve coordination in the coming year.

Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - concluded, emphasizing that one of the key focuses of coordination work in the coming period is to replicate many highly effective models in the agricultural sector.

After representatives from various departments and agencies gave their comments, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, concluded by highly appreciating the results of the coordination between the Provincial Farmers' Association and relevant departments and agencies in 2015.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that in the coming time, all levels of the association should review their regulations, expand coordination between the association and other sectors and organizations; review the results of implemented models based on the province's key crop and livestock planning orientation to provide better guidance; focus on vocational training for farmers; promptly evaluate and summarize to transfer and replicate effective models that are suitable to the conditions of each region; and continue to encourage members to participate more actively in implementing the national target program for building new rural areas, gradually increasing people's income.
