(Baonghean.vn) - Despite the policy of banning manual brick kilns, there are still 7 kilns in the province that are burning day and night, causing serious environmental pollution to residential areas.

According to regulations of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, manual brick and tile kilns must cease operations by December 31, 2017. Up to this point, the province has eliminated nearly 300 manual brick kilns.

However, there are still some districts that have not yet resolutely eliminated brick kilns.

At Nghia Son block, Quang Phong ward (Thai Hoa town), there are 2 brick kilns located in a residential area. At the time the reporter was there, both kilns were still emitting smoke, large columns of acrid smoke spread all around. In the kiln area, finished bricks were stacked haphazardly, and vehicles were bustling in and out to pick up bricks.

It is known that these two vertical brick kilns belong to Mr. Tran Van Chuyen and Mr. Tran Tat Vien, both residing in Nghia Son block.

Mr. Nguyen Canh Kieu - Chairman of Quang Phong Ward People's Committee said: The Ward People's Committee has propagated and mobilized the above 2 households to eliminate vertical technology brick kilns. Strive to end the operation of these brick kilns by December 31, 2019.

According to the report of the Department of Construction, as of June 2019, Nghe An province still has 7 manual brick kilns in operation. Including 3 kilns in Tan Ky, 1 kiln in Que Phong, 2 kilns in Thai Hoa town, and 1 kiln in Nghia Dan.

Mr. Le Cuong Son - Head of Construction Materials Management Department, Department of Construction said: The brick kilns that are still operating are mainly located in the midlands and mountainous areas, and the kiln owners are still facing many difficulties in changing their jobs. Currently, the Department of Construction is continuing to urge and direct localities, requiring that by the end of 2019, all brick kilns in the area must be eliminated.

7 manual brick kilns are in operation including: Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai in Nghia Khanh commune (Nghia Dan); Mr. Tran Xuan Ho in Nghia Thai commune (Tan Ky); Mr. Thai Ba Hao and Mr. Nguyen Van Hung in Nghia Hoan commune (Tan Ky); Mr. Tran Van Chuyen and Mr. Tran Tat Vien in Quang Phong ward (Thai Hoa town); Mr. Ba in Muong Noc commune (Que Phong).
