Present at Tan Ky Tunnel Brick Factory in Tan Long Commune, bricks were stacked in long, messy aisles but there were no trucks coming to buy. The representative of the factory's Board of Directors said: Since the beginning of July 2023, tunnel brick products have been very difficult to sell, with about 9 million bricks currently remaining in stock.
Faced with the above difficulties, since August 22, the factory has had to temporarily suspend production, resulting in over 100 workers being unemployed. To retain workers, the factory still has to pay 100% of the insurance premium and support 50,000 VND/day/worker.
Mr. Vi Van Quang - Head of the Economic - Infrastructure Department of Tan Ky district said: Tan Ky district currently has 4 tunnel brick factories. Due to difficulties in output, all 4 factories are currently operating at a low level. The reason bricks have been difficult to sell recently is because civil construction works and projects with State investment capital are under construction. In order for factories to develop stably, the district encourages factories to diversify their products to compete with the market, especially to find new markets...

Also in the same situation, Thanh Chuong district has 4 brick factories operating at a low capacity. Rao Gang brick factory in Thanh Chuong town has a capacity of 2 million bricks/year, but since July until now, it has only operated at 20% capacity.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hue - Director of Rao Gang Brick Factory said: There has never been a more difficult year than this year, brick products are almost unsold and have to be stored in warehouses. Meanwhile, the price of materials has increased; previously it was only 1 million VND/ton of coal, now it has increased to 2 million VND/ton of coal. Faced with this situation, the factory is temporarily suspending production, waiting for the market to stabilize before operating again.

At the 30/4 brick and tile factory in Thanh Khai commune, with a capacity of 60 million bricks/year, up to now it has only been operating at over 50% capacity. At this time, the factory operates according to orders and does not dare to mass produce for fear of difficulty in selling.
A representative of the Department of Construction said: Nghe An currently has 27 tunnel brick factories, distributed in 12 districts, cities and towns including Tan Ky, Thanh Chuong, Yen Thanh, Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen districts, with a total designed capacity of over 700 million bricks/year. However, due to difficulties in output, from the beginning of 2024 until now, the factories have only operated at over 50%, many factories still have a large amount of bricks in stock.

According to forecasts, in the coming time, the tunnel brick manufacturing industry will face many difficulties and challenges, and if businesses do not have plans to innovate production and business, it will be difficult to survive in the market.
