Nghe An announces plan and schedule for 10th grade entrance exam
The 10th grade entrance exam will be held on June 3 and 4, 2025.
On March 21, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 839/QD-UBND approving the enrollment plan for grade 10 high schools in Nghe An province; enrollment for grade 10 Phan Boi Chau specialized high school; grade 10 ethnic boarding high school students and grade 6 ethnic boarding middle school students for the 2025-2026 school year.
Accordingly, the Entrance ExamGrade 10This year, it will be held over 2 days (June 3 and 4, 2025) with 3 subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language (English or French).
In particular, the written test for Math and Literature with the time for each subject is 120 minutes. The objective test for Foreign Language consists of 40 questions with the time for 60 minutes. Candidates take the test on the multiple choice answer sheet, the results of the candidates on the multiple choice answer sheet are graded by computer software.

According to the instructions, candidates participating in this year's exam must be students who are permanent residents and study in Nghe An province. In case students transfer from other localities, they must be approved by the Department of Education and Training. In addition, candidates must be students who have graduated from secondary school, general education program or continuing education program with the age specified in the Charter of secondary schools, high schools and multi-level high schools.
To prepare for the 10th grade entrance exam, the province also assigned the Department of Education and Training to review and submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval of specific quotas for each educational institution in the area and announce to students and parents in advance the registration time.
Regarding the method of admission to grade 10, entrance exams will be held for schools with the number of students registering for their first choice (NV1) exceeding the enrollment quota for the 2025-2026 school year; admission will be considered for the remaining schools.
Particularly for schools under the Project "Piloting the construction of advanced kindergartens and general schools following the trend of international integration in Nghe An province, period 2021-2030" (attached to Decision No. 147/QD-UBND dated January 18, 2022 of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee), admission is based on the selection method for classes implementing advanced models, and entrance exams for the remaining classes. The Director of the Department of Education and Training considers and specifies the admission criteria.
According to the instructions of the Provincial People's Committee, the score of the 10th grade entrance exam for Math and Literature is the sum of the component scores of each question in the exam, the score is given on a 10-point scale, rounded to 0.25. Meanwhile, the score of the Foreign Language exam is the sum of the scores of all the questions in the exam, each question is worth 0.25 points. Nghe An continues to apply 3 exams with the same coefficient of 1.
Additional points for beneficiaries of preferential and incentive regimes are implemented according to the provisions of Circular No. 30/2024/TT-BGDDT dated December 30, 2024 of the Ministry of Education and Training on promulgating the Regulations on junior high school and high school admissions.
The admission score is the total score of 3 exams and additional points for priority and incentive candidates. Admitted candidates must not have any exam with a score of 0.

In the 10th grade entrance exam, the Provincial People's Committee requires that the exam content be within the general secondary education program issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, mainly in grade 9. The exam questions must be accurate, clear, error-free, differentiate the students' levels, and be suitable for the prescribed time for each exam subject.
According to the plan, the first admission review and announcement of admission results will be within 20 days from the announcement of exam results. Admission results will be completed when the assigned enrollment quota has been met or by the opening day of that school year (whichever comes first).
Thus, this year's 10th grade entrance exam will basically remain the same as previous years. Previously, in the context of merging localities, Nghe An proposed adjusting the 10th grade entrance exam schedule to the end of May 2025, 1 week earlier than the regulation.
This year is the first year that the 10th grade entrance exam has been implemented according to the 2018 General Education Program. Since the beginning of January, Nghe An has also announced the structure and sample exam questions to facilitate teachers, students and schools in the review process.
The entrance exam for grade 10 at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted will be held on June 6. This year, the school will enroll 13 specialized classes in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology, Literature, History, Geography, English, Japanese, Chinese, French, Russian, and Korean.
The specialized Math class will recruit 2 classes including specialized Math 1 and specialized Math 2.
