This afternoon (May 17), after the results of the number of applications, admission forms and competition rates of high schools in the province were announced, some middle schools in the area announced that grade 9 students would be off from reviewing for the exam.

The reason is that the schools that many students registered for have changed the form of admission from exam to selection because the number of application files is lower than the school's enrollment quota.

Among these, there are many schools with a long tradition such as Anh Son 2 High School, Do Luong 2 High School, Kim Lien High School. In addition, there are some non-public schools such as Nguyen Truong To High School, Hermann Gmeiner High School... which are also subject to admission without examination.

According to the summary, the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2018-2019 school year had a total of 35,379 students registered for the exam out of a total target of 32,833.

According to the registration results, 62 high schools will organize entrance exams and the remaining 45 schools will organize entrance exams. Notably, in previous years, schools in mountainous districts such as Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Quy Chau, Que Phong, Ky Son, students were admitted directly to grade 10. However, this year, in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning, the Department of Education and Training still advocates organizing entrance exams in these schools.

Currently, only Ky Son High School conducts the admission process. The remaining schools have started the admission process again this year with a fairly low competition rate, such as Tuong Duong 1 High School with 432 students/420 quotas, Tuong Duong 2 High School with 218 students/210 quotas, Muong Qua High School with 181 students/150 quotas and Con Cuong High School with 506 students/462 quotas...

Statistics also show that, in terms of the competition rate for high school entrance this year, Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Vinh City) continues to be the school with the largest number of registered candidates with 1,255 applications/630 targets. It is expected that the rate of successful candidates to this school will account for 50% of the registered applications.

Next is Ha Huy Tap High School with 58%, Le Viet Thuat High School with 65%, Thai Lao High School 67%, Quynh Luu 3 High School with 69%.

Regarding the 10th grade entrance exam, the Department of Education and Training has just issued a document directing the announcement of the list of high schools and vocational training centers that organize entrance exams and high schools and vocational training centers that organize admission exams for students and parents to know.

The Departments of Education and Training instruct secondary schools in the area where candidates have registered to take the entrance exam to high schools that enroll students by selection and wish to take the entrance exam to Phan Boi Chau Ethnic Minority High School or Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School, they must submit their application form to a high school that organizes entrance exams, to get the entrance exam score to take the entrance exam to Phan Boi Chau Ethnic Minority High School or Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School.

The directive document of the Department of Education and Training also clearly states: From May 17, units are not allowed to accept new registration applications.
