Nghe An ensures absolute safety for 9,600 flights

(Baonghean.vn) - In 2015, the work of ensuring civil aviation security in Nghe An continued to be seriously and effectively implemented.

On the afternoon of January 22, under the chairmanship of Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to summarize the work of ensuring civil aviation security and safety in 2015, deploy tasks in 2016; and disseminate Decree No. 92/2015/ND-CP of the Government on Aviation Security.

According to the report of the Aviation Emergency Command of Nghe An province, in 2015, the work of ensuring security and order, resolving incidents related to aviation security, and dealing with illegal interference in civil aviation activities continued to be strengthened.

The functional forces developed and organized drills to ensure security and order at Vinh airport: The provincial Fire Police organized two firefighting drills at Vinh airport and the Aviation Petroleum Company Limited, North Central Branch of Vinh airport cluster. Notably, recently, the provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to successfully organize the 2015 search and rescue drill for aircraft in distress at Bai Lu, Nghi Loc.

The security force of Vinh Airport has implemented flight service procedures well, especially the work of controlling, screening aviation security, checking and handling suspicious and unclaimed vehicles and luggage; strengthening patrol and guard work, coordinating with professional units of the Provincial Police and Vinh City Police to detect, arrest and record 8 cases of causing disorder and insecurity at the airport, notably 1 case of violating aviation security regulations (spreading information about having explosives on the person) and 1 case of illegally transporting supporting tools.

According to Vinh Airport, in 2015, the unit's business activities continued to grow well with 1.358 million passengers, ensuring safe landing and take-off for 9,600 flights.

Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that ensuring aviation security and safety needs to be strengthened, especially in the context of complicated developments in the world and region, with terrorism occurring in many countries.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien emphasized that ensuring aviation security and safety can be considered a matter of survival for an airport. In the context of complicated world politics, the terrorist situation occurring in many European countries, most recently Paris, the work of ensuring aviation security and safety must be tightened.

To ensure absolute safety of civil aviation, in the coming time, it is necessary to regularly educate and improve political level, vigilance and responsibility of officers and soldiers of armed forces, officers and employees of departments and branches in ensuring aviation security and safety.

Improve the capacity to deal with aviation emergencies. Forces need to proactively grasp, analyze, and accurately forecast the situation, synchronously deploy working measures to prevent from afar, including logistics and infrastructure, promptly detect complex problems, situations that directly threaten, and have illegal interference in civil aviation activities in the area.

At the conference, the Provincial Police also disseminated Decree No. 92/2015/ND-CP of the Government on Aviation Security. Decree No. 92/2015/ND-CP of the Government of Vietnam on aviation security was issued on October 13, 2015, effective from November 27, 2015, with 8 chapters and 43 articles, which are effective solutions and tools to ensure absolute safety and security for flight operations; which stipulates measures to control aviation security and deal with illegal interference in civil aviation activities.

In addition to detailing aviation security control measures, Decree 92/2015/ND-CP also provides tough sanctions with sufficient deterrence against acts of illegal interference in civil aviation activities, and details cases where air transport is prohibited (Article 18).
