Nghe An: Strong investment in developing road traffic and seaports

(Baonghean) - In order to meet the needs of investors and strongly stimulate potential, especially in coastal areas,Nghe An always focuses on investing in building traffic routes and seaports.

Connecting traffic axes

According to recent statistics, the coastal area of ​​82 km of Nghe An gathers more than 1.2 million people, including 6 districts, cities and towns (Vinh city, Cua Lo town, Hoang Mai town, Quynh Luu, Dien Chau and Nghi Loc districts). The coastal population accounts for 39.9% of the whole province, while the area only accounts for 1,389.7 km2 (accounting for 8.45% of the whole province).

Since 2007, Nghe An has completed the construction and upgrading of a total of 380km of national highways and 170km of provincial roads in coastal areas. The province is also coordinating the implementation of investment preparation steps for projects: Expressway section from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh, Cua Hoi bridge across Lam river...

With various capital sources, provincial roads and important roads of coastal provinces have been invested in upgrading such as: Lam River Road, DT537 section of Cau Giat town, road connecting from National Highway 1A to Dong Hoi, Provincial Road 534 section through km0-Km6; road from National Highway 1 - Thai Hoa, Provincial Road 535 Vinh to Cua Hoi, Road N5 to Do Luong, road from Vinh to Cua Lo (Vinh - Cua Lo Avenue) is under construction....

The traffic project from Giat town to Lach Quen is nearing completion. Mr. Nguyen Van Quy - Vice Chairman of Quynh Luu District People's Committee said: The project to renovate and upgrade the National Highway 1A overpass to Lach Quen has a total investment of 600 billion VND, under the BOT form, constructed by Cienco 4 and the General Company 319 of the Ministry of National Defense, and has reached 70% of the progress.

The project passes through the communes of Quynh Ba, Quynh Doi, Son Hai, Quynh Thuan... of Quynh Luu district. With the support of the people, the road has been implemented quite quickly and up to now many sections have been paved with asphalt and cars have been able to circulate. This is the main route for transporting goods and traveling for many coastal communes of Quynh Luu, at the same time promoting investment and development of this area.

Vinh - Cua Lo road is also being accelerated; this is the central traffic axis of Vinh city, in the future to "unify" Vinh - Cua Lo and exploit potential advantages as well as elevate Vinh city to become a "coastal city" in the future. On the route, contractors are focusing on constructing the sections that have been cleared.

Speeding up seaport construction

From a Cua Lo port that accommodates ships of over 10,000 tons, Nghe An now has a port cluster and at many seaport construction sites, construction progress is being actively deployed.

Cua Lo Port No. 5 and No. 6, invested by Tuan Loc Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, have now completed 70% of the construction progress. At the construction site, there are always about 250 officers and workers from 5 companies from Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Nghe An working day and night. Cua Lo Port has a capacity of 30,000 DWT, specializing in container ports, so the parking lots for transporting containers are constructed with high quality according to the Tan Cang Saigon model.

The investor is Tuan Loc Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, which has invested 221 billion VND for the items. Mr. Nguyen Hong Son - Director of Cua Lo Port Company Limited said: This is a project invested in the form of BOT, with Tuan Loc Construction Investment Joint Stock Company as the investor. The project is built in Nghi Thuy commune (Cua Lo town), including wharfs No. 5, 6 and Cua Lo port logistics area with a total area of ​​23.4 hectares.

The wharf is 450m long and 40m wide, capable of receiving two ships with a capacity of 30,000 tons at the same time. In addition, the wharf's logistics area has a 9.5ha cargo yard, a 1.1ha container yard, a 3ha CFS warehouse...; the total investment is 1,180 billion VND and the project implementation time is 1 year. After completion and put into use, wharfs No. 5 and 6 will increase the throughput capacity of Cua Lo port. It is expected that the project will be put into operation by August 2017.

The DKC Petroleum Depot Project invested by Thien Minh Duc Joint Stock Company has a capacity of 86,000 m3 with a separate wharf system of 1.5 km long, receiving ships from 20,000 to 30,000 tons to serve the import and export of goods of the unit and is also being vigorously implemented. The project has a total investment of more than 600 billion VND and is invested in 3 phases: Phase 1 is a warehouse of 26,000 m3 and a wharf; phase 2 is 45,000 m3 and phase 3 is 15,000 m3. Currently, the investor is focusing on constructing phase 1 to operate at the end of 2016.

Nghi Thiet specialized port project (cement specialized port) invested by The Vissai Cement Group with a total investment of about 2,200 billion VND is actively under construction; progress is guaranteed. The international port area accommodates 70,000-ton ships, the domestic port area accommodates 10,000-ton ships. The cargo volume of phase 1 (until 2018) is 9 million tons, phase 2 (after 2020) is 15.4 million tons.

During a recent working trip with leaders of Nghe An province, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited a number of seaports in Nghe An under construction. The Prime Minister said that building a cluster of international and domestic seaports in Cua Lo is extremely necessary to meet the needs of Nghe An, which is building itself into a center of the North Central region. In addition, Nghe An's transport infrastructure has undergone many changes, thanks to the attention and investment of the Central Government... Currently, Nghe An has planned in detail the deep-water port of Cua Lo, calculating the volume of goods when VSIP Industrial Park, Hamaraij, Vientiane - Hanoi Expressway are in operation...
