Nghe An promotes coordination in organizing gender equality activities for women's advancement
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 7, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to deploy gender equality work and activities for the advancement of women in 2024.

20/24 targets achieved and exceeded
According to the report of the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women, in 2023, inter-sectoral coordination in implementing gender equality work and women's advancement will be increasingly close, unified, synchronous and effective. The Committee for the Advancement of Women from the provincial to grassroots levels has been focused on strengthening, the staff working on gender equality continues to promote their capacity and responsibility in consulting and directing implementation, contributing to improving the effectiveness of gender equality work in the province.

Propaganda and education to raise awareness of gender equality are regularly focused on with many forms and rich content, suitable for regions and subjects. Training, fostering, arranging, promoting and using female cadres, especially young female cadres, are basically well implemented.
Thanks to that, in 2023, Nghe An had 20/24 targets of 6 goals of the National Strategy on Gender Equality achieved and exceeded the set plan, accounting for 83.3%.
However, there are still some limitations such as: 4/24 targets of 6 goals of the national strategy on gender equality for the period 2021 - 2025 have not been achieved compared to the set plan, accounting for 16.7% including: The rate of provincial People's Committees or People's Councils with key female leaders; the rate of district-level local governments with key female leaders; increasing the rate of female workers receiving wages; sex ratio at birth.
Some policies related to gender equality and women's advancement have been issued but have been slow to be implemented, not creating favorable conditions for women to study, improve their qualifications, promote their capacity for the development of the community, family and society as well as access and enjoy the achievements of society. Some departments, branches, localities and units still lack attention to allocating resources to implement gender equality work at the unit and local level, especially at the commune level.

At the conference, delegates also shared experiences in implementing gender equality and activities for women's advancement in sectors and localities; proposed solutions to improve the effectiveness and quality of these activities.
Strengthening coordination in organizing gender equality activities
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the sectors, levels, and members of the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women to continue to lead and direct the serious implementation of the Central Government's directives, strategies, and programs related to gender equality; develop goals and planning targets with gender mainstreaming factors in the national target program on poverty reduction, new rural areas, health, education, employment, and in the appraisal of investment projects.
In addition, continue to strengthen communication work to raise awareness and responsibility of families, communities and society in implementing gender equality and women's advancement, especially among leaders and managers and men. In particular, promote the application of digital technology, diversify forms and products in communication work on gender equality; prevent and respond to gender-based violence and work for women's advancement.
Strengthen inter-sectoral coordination in organizing gender equality activities and preventing and responding to gender-based violence. Enhance the responsibility and effectiveness of coordination between agencies and organizations in the political system, between state management agencies and the Committee for the Advancement of Women, the Women's Union at all levels, the Fatherland Front Committee, and socio-political organizations in implementing women's work and gender equality.
