(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 6, Nghe An Red Cross Society coordinated with the People's Committees of Nam Tan and Nam Thuong communes (Nam Dan) to conduct the 2017 Disaster Prevention and Response Drill.
Participating in the drill were representatives of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, the Provincial Red Cross Society; representatives of departments, branches, and organizations of Nam Dan district, Red Cross volunteers and people of Nam Tan and Nam Thuong communes.

The hypothetical situation is that due to the direct impact of storm No. 11 with wind speed of level 14 gusting to level 15 making landfall in the North Central region, many localities in Nghe An province have heavy rain, causing widespread flooding. In the communes along Lam River in Nam Dan district, they are being isolated due to rising water, many areas are deeply flooded.
Grasping the situation, the Commune Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue carried out evacuation work in low-lying hamlets at risk of deep flooding to safe shelters. At the same time, the Committee coordinated with relevant agencies and units to implement a plan to forcibly evacuate households that did not comply; rescue forces took some injured and drowned people to medical care...

The drill ended successfully, the simulated situations were carried out by the forces as quickly as possible, ensuring quality, safety, and following procedures. The drill aimed to improve the level of organization, command, flexibility, urgency, and sensitivity in handling situations of the emergency response team, police, military, and other forces of the commune. Thereby, creating a smooth, close, and timely coordination of actions between the forces of the commune in responding to, handling, and overcoming situations that occur during the rainy and stormy season, minimizing damage to people and property when storms occur.
