Nghe An won Third Prize at the Central Region Open Youth Chess Tournament

(Baonghean.vn) - After 3 days of exciting competition (from February 2 to February 4), the 10th Central Region Open Youth Chess Tournament organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An has ended successfully.

Attending the closing ceremony were comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, leaders of the Vietnam Chess Federation, and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An.

After 400 matches with the participation of 109 athletes, including many players who have achieved the title of national and international masters from the provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Quang Binh, Thai Nguyen, Hue and the host Nghe An, the result was that the Da Nang delegation ranked first with 6 gold medals, 3 silver medals; the Hue delegation ranked second with 5 gold medals, 8 silver medals. Chess is not Nghe An's strength, but in the first time hosting the tournament, Nghe An athletes excellently won 5 gold medals, 6 silver medals, ranking third overall.

At the end of the tournament, the leaders of the Vietnam Chess Federation highly appreciated the careful preparation of the host team Nghe An, which contributed to the great success of the tournament.
