(Baonghean.vn) - According to the project, 7 communes of Nghi Loc district will be merged into Cua Lo, namely: Nghi Khanh, Nghi Hop, Nghi Thach, Nghi Phong, Nghi Xuan, Phuc Tho and Nghi Thai commune. At that time, the natural land area of ​​the town will increase from 27.81 km2 to 74.45 km2 and the population will increase from 58,000 people to over 105,000 people.

Established in 1994, on the basis of separation from Cua Lo town and 4 communes: Nghi Thu, Nghi Huong, Nghi Hoa, Nghi Hai and part of Nghi Quang commune in Nghi Loc district, the administrative boundary of Cua Lo town currently has 7 wards with a natural land area of ​​only 27.81 km2.2.

Pursuant to Resolution 05/NQ-TU, dated September 26, 2006 of the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee (term XVI) on building and developing Cua Lo Town into a tourist city by 2015, with a view to 2020, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 5263/QD-UBND on establishing a Steering Committee and a working group to develop a project to adjust the administrative boundaries of Nghi Loc district to expand Cua Lo Town.

On December 14, 2017, the Provincial People's Committee approved Plan No. 771/KH-UBND to deploy and assign tasks to develop the Project to adjust the administrative boundaries of Nghi Loc district to expand Cua Lo town.

According to the plan, in January 2018, complete step 1 of the Project to seek opinions from relevant sectors and levels and organize a workshop on the project to adjust the administrative boundaries of Nghi Loc district to expand Cua Lo town; From February to March 2018, organize to collect opinions from people in the residential communities of communes that are expected to be adjusted to merge administrative boundaries under the management of Cua Lo town.

In April 2018, the People's Councils at the commune and district levels held meetings to approve the Project on adjusting administrative boundaries to expand Cua Lo town. In May 2018, the Provincial People's Committee reviewed and commented on the Project on adjusting administrative boundaries of Nghi Loc district to expand Cua Lo town, then submitted it to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for approval. Around July 2018, the Provincial People's Council approved the Project on adjusting administrative boundaries of Nghi Loc district to expand Cua Lo town.

Then, complete the Project dossier and submit it to the Ministry of Home Affairs for appraisal, report to the Government for submission to the National Assembly Standing Committee for consideration and decision.
