Nghe An received 4,195 tons of rice from the Government to relieve hunger during Tet.

The Prime Minister has just assigned the Ministry of Finance to issue (free of charge) 12,322 tons of rice from the national reserve to support hunger relief for 9 localities during the Lunar New Year and the 2014 crop gap.

9 provinces supported include: Lai Chau 730 tons; Lao Cai 214 tons; Cao Bang 446 tons; Yen Bai 360 tons; Nghe An 4,195 tons; Quang Binh 3,390 tons; Quang Tri 1,458 tons; Phu Yen 676 tons; Ninh Thuan 853 tons of rice.

The Prime Minister requested the People's Committees of the provinces to use the above-mentioned amount of rice to promptly and properly support people suffering from hunger.

In case of continued difficulties, localities shall report to the Ministries of Finance and Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to propose to the Prime Minister for consideration of continued support to ensure that people do not go hungry, especially during the 2014 Lunar New Year.
