Nghe An introduces businesses and agricultural products in Hanoi

(Baonghean.vn) - On September 28, in Hanoi, a workshop took place between Nghe An - Vietnamese enterprises - Japanese enterprises, introducing enterprises and agricultural products of Nghe An province.

Attending the workshop were Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of a number of departments, branches, representatives of JICA, along with more than 30 Japanese enterprises and 17 Vietnamese enterprises.

Overview of the workshop.

At the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong affirmed that Nghe An is a locality with many potentials and advantages to cooperate with Japan in the agricultural sector. The potentials and advantages of very favorable land, abundant labor, and a diverse crop structure from rice, tea, sugarcane to rubber make Nghe An an attractive investment destination for Japanese enterprises.

Nghe An is also implementing attractive incentive policies for foreign investment enterprises, including Japanese investors, through the construction of road systems between raw material areas and processing plants, supporting loan interest for the installation of power systems, supporting the construction of traffic utilities, electricity, water and wastewater systems. Nghe An will also support Japanese enterprises in site clearance and resettlement, supporting 50% of land planning costs.

This foundation, together with the determination to "improve productivity and added value" in agriculture, and the efforts to overcome existing difficulties to establish model areas for building agricultural and food value chains, will increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of Nghe An with Japanese enterprises.

In recent years, many Japanese enterprises have shown interest in developing cooperative relations with Nghe An in the agricultural sector. Therefore, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is implementing many projects to support the province’s agricultural sector.

Mr. Nguyen Van Lap - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: JICA is implementing a project to support the renovation of the Northern Nghe An irrigation system, helping Nghe An re-investigate the entire situation of crops, livestock, agricultural cooperatives, and businesses operating in the area to make recommendations to the province on agricultural re-planning in the coming time towards increasing added value. This workshop is a joint activity between JICA and the People's Committee of Nghe An province to create opportunities for businesses from both sides to meet directly, grasp information and needs of each other, creating a foundation for new cooperative relationships in the future.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Masahiko Tanoi, Secretary of the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan affirmed that Nghe An is a place with great potential for agricultural production and agricultural products with high added value.

General Director of Kubota Vietnam Hiromi Nakanishi highly appreciated Nghe An, saying that this is a locality with diverse agricultural products, located on the route connecting the North and South of the country. This businessman also assessed that Nghe An has good sales brokers, so it is a good place for cooperation for Japanese enterprises.

Mr. Kakioka, Deputy Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office, said that the “contract farming” model to connect the stages from production, processing to distribution is a good way to ensure a continuous and stable supply of valuable agricultural products to the market. This is especially important when Nghe An aims to export agricultural products abroad.

Besides, Japanese enterprises also believe that applying advanced agricultural production technology is very important, making Nghe An agriculture more attractive to foreign enterprises.

Also at the workshop, Nghe An and Japanese businesses provided each other with specific requirements, exchanged and discussed to find new business opportunities.
