Nghe An: Support to buy 1,500 smartphones with 4G sim cards to help poor students study online

(Baonghean.vn) - The Steering Committee for the Fund for the Poor in Nghe An province allocated 3 billion VND to support the Department of Education and Training to buy 1,500 smartphones and called on VNPT Nghe An to support 1,500 4G SIM cards with a total value of 900 million VND to help poor students study online.

The award ceremony was held within the framework of the program to launch the Nghe An Provincial Covid-19 Information Portal and activate the two-way interactive online meeting system to 460 wards and communes in the whole province, organized by the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee on the morning of September 17 with the direct witness of comrades: Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control; Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee, Commander of the Provincial Covid-19 Prevention and Control Command Center.

Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, Head of the Provincial Fund for the Poor Mobilization Committee presented 3 billion VND in support; Comrade Ho Thi Thuy Trang - Director of VNPT Nghe An presented 1,500 4G SIM cards.

On behalf of the industry, comrade Thai Van Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training received the above meaningful support gifts.

This is a practical activity of Nghe An province in response to the program "Waves and computers for children" launched by the Prime Minister in an online conference with 63 provinces and cities nationwide on the evening of September 12.

The program calls on the whole society to join hands to support students in difficult circumstances, lacking means and conditions for online learning, especially in areas implementing social distancing and increased social distancing due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.

The program has profound social and humane significance, bringing practical results to millions of students and families across the country, including Nghe An province; at the same time, it conveys the message of adapting to the situation, managing change and spreading compassion in each of us.
