(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 29th, a delegation from the Ministry of Education and Training, led by Ms. Ly Thi Hang, Deputy Director of the Department of Preschool Education, held a working session with the People's Committee of Nghe An province to announce the results of the inspection and recognition of universal preschool education for 5-year-old children in Nghe An province.

Receiving and working with the delegation was Comrade Le Minh Thong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Steering Committee for CMC - PCGD & XDXHHT.

The universalization of preschool education for 5-year-old children began in 2011. Over the past five years, the preschool education system in Nghe An province has developed to 524 preschools (an increase of 16 schools compared to 2011). Of these, 500 are public schools and 24 are private schools (an increase of 6 public schools and 10 private schools). All 21 districts, cities, and towns have achieved the standard for universal preschool education for 5-year-old children (100% coverage), with 99.85% of 5-year-old children attending preschool and 95.2% of communes and wards recognized as achieving this standard.

During the meeting, the head of the delegation from the Ministry of Education and Training announced the results of the inspection of the province's preschool education universalization efforts. He highly praised the attention, involvement, leadership, and guidance of the provincial Party Committee and People's Committee in planning and implementing the universalization program.

The province has also made outstanding efforts in building infrastructure, successfully converting 353 preschools from semi-public to public. A system of spacious school buildings has been constructed to meet the needs of childcare. Teaching quality and the teaching staff are highly standardized, with 95% of teachers teaching 5-year-olds exceeding the required training standards. The enrollment rate of 5-year-olds is high, and the children are intelligent, healthy, and have good communication skills. All three basic criteria have been met.

They also hoped the province would continue to focus on ensuring a sufficient and qualified teaching staff and providing adequate benefits for teachers.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Le Minh Thong expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the Ministry of Education and Training's attention to the universalization of preschool education for 5-year-old children in Nghe An province. Nghe An province will continue to direct efforts to achieve even better results in the universalization of preschool education for 5-year-old children in the future, especially in disadvantaged areas, mountainous regions, and remote areas.

At the end of the working session, the delegation from the Ministry of Education and Training and Mr. Le Minh Thong signed the inspection report recognizing Nghe An province as having achieved the standard for universal preschool education for 5-year-old children. Accordingly, Nghe An has met all the conditions to be recognized as having achieved the standard for universal preschool education for 5-year-old children.
