Nghe An: More than 87,000 high school students take general vocational exams
(Baonghean.vn) - On March 30 and April 2-4, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training organized the General Vocational Examination for the 2011-2012 school year. On the afternoon of March 30, candidates took the theory exam; on April 2-4, candidates took the practical exam.
Depending on the candidate's registration, junior high school students take one of the exams.7 occupations: Tailoring, Cooking, Gardening, Rice cultivation, Fish farming, Household electricity, Office informatics; high school students compete in 1 of 7 occupations: Flower arrangement, Cooking, Gardening, Forestry, Household electricity, Office informatics, Technical drawing.

In the 2011-2012 school year, Nghe An had 16/20 Departments of Education and Training directing secondary schools to provide vocational training for 46,196 students; 91/91 high schools (including Vinh University's Specialized High Schools) and 17/20 Continuing Education Centers provided vocational training for 41,655 students. After the preliminary round, 470 students at the secondary level and 217 students at the high level were not allowed to take the exam because they did not study enough time (missed more than 10% of the prescribed classes). As a result,45,726 secondary school studentsand 41,438 high school students participated in the exam at 79 examination councils in the province.
To overcome the shortcomings in last year's general vocational exams, such as some schools sending teachers without expertise in general vocational teaching to grade general vocational exams, this year, before entering the exam, Nghe An Department of Education and Training held a meeting to fully disseminate the purpose and requirements of the exam to the Heads of the district-level exam steering committees and the Chairmen of the exam councils.
