Nghe An opens Ethnic Minority Sports Festival
(Baonghean) -On the afternoon of April 19, in Tuong Duong district, the opening ceremony of the 2011 Mountain Ethnic Minority Sports Festival of Nghe An province took place.
Participating in the competition were 184 athletes who were ethnic minorities from 12 districts and towns including Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Tan Ky, Que Phong, Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Nghia Dan, Thanh Chuong, Thai Hoa town and some mountainous communes of Quynh Luu district.

Athletes will compete in 7 events: men's volleyball, women's volleyball, shuttlecock throwing, crossbow shooting, stick pushing, tug of war.
This is a major activity to celebrate the Southern Liberation Day April 30, International Labor Day May 1, President Ho Chi Minh's birthday May 19 and especially to welcome the election of deputies to the 8th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term.
Through the contest, the Organizing Committee will select outstanding athletes to participate in the 7th National Ethnic Minority Sports Contest held in Dien Bien province in May 2011.

This is an opportunity to widely develop the movement of physical training and competition, improve health, improve spiritual life, preserve and promote traditional cultural values. Through sports and cultural activities, ethnic people have the opportunity to strengthen exchanges, solidarity and cohesion in the Vietnamese ethnic community.
The contest will end on April 22, 2011.
