Nghe An exploited nearly 280 thousand cubic meters of wood in the first 7 months of the year

(Baonghean.vn) - Protecting, developing and exploiting planted forests has become one of the occupations that bring income to local people in Nghe An. In the first 7 months of the year, nearly 280 thousand cubic meters of various types of wood were exploited.

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, it is estimated that in July 2017, the exploited wood output in the province reached 39,940 m3, bringing the total exploited wood in the first 7 months of 2017 to an estimated 279,447 m3, an increase of 24.24% over the same period.

The logging process ensures compliance with legal procedures. In July, the authorities discovered and arrested 76 cases of violations of the Forest Protection Law, confiscated 158.54 m3 of various types of wood, and collected 667 million VND for the budget.

Along with timber exploitation, new forest planting has been strongly implemented by the people and local authorities. The area of ​​newly planted forests in the province in July is estimated at 1,500 hectares, the accumulated area in 7 months is estimated at 8,037 hectares, an increase of 2.06% over the same period. Units and forest owners coordinate with local authorities to propagate and mobilize people to protect the existing 940,500 hectares of forest.
