In Hung Trung and Hung Yen Nam communes (Hung Nguyen district); Nghi Van and Nghi Hoa communes (Nghi Loc district) and many other communes in Dien Chau, Tan Ky and Do Luong districts, there is always a shortage of clean water due to the underground water being salty or contaminated with alum, while clean water projects have not been invested in or have been invested but have small capacity and are in a state of degradation and damage. In these localities, in the summer, to have clean water for use, people have to buy it from other localities provided by people who provide services of transporting, supplying and selling clean water by car or motorbike. The shortage of clean water is causing difficulties in people's daily life. Currently, to have clean water, each month, some households have to spend about 70,000 VND to 150,000 VND to buy water. For many poor households in rural and mountainous areas, this is not a small amount of money.
To overcome the shortage of clean water for people, Nghe An province is implementing many solutions, mobilizing capital sources to invest in building clean water projects, prioritizing localities with large populations, near industrial parks and industrial clusters to combine water supply for production and business. The province also recommends that people invest in building rainwater tanks; implement solutions to store and save clean water, especially in the summer.
Nghe An province strives to complete phase 1 of the project to upgrade Cua Lo town water plant from 3,000 m3/day and night to 16,000 m3/day and night; Thai Hoa town water plant from 4,000 m3/day and night to 16,000 m3/day and night; Quynh Luu district water plant from 3,000 m3/day and night to 10,000 m3/day and night./.
