Nghe An checks the origin and quality of pork sold in markets

On March 20, Mr. Cao Viet Duong - Head of the Disease Management Department of Nghe An Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department said: Through inspection at the markets, it was shown that the pork products sold ensure food safety, have been controlled by veterinary agencies before slaughter, people can rest assured to use.

However, the reality at the markets also shows that due to consumer confusion over information about African swine fever, the use of pork products has decreased compared to before. Most small traders have significantly reduced the amount of meat imported and sold.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa - a trader at Vinh market said: To make customers feel secure when using pork products, our businesses guarantee to slaughter hygienically, use pigs with clear origin, and have been quarantined by veterinary agencies. Therefore, regular customers still use meat at my stall as usual.

Along with the inspection work, the delegation also propagated and mobilized small traders to comply with food safety and hygiene business practices, not to trade in diseased pigs, dead pigs, pigs of unknown origin; and to ensure hygiene procedures for slaughtering and quarantine pigs before circulating them on the market.
