(Baonghean.vn) - In recent days, Nghe An has been experiencing intense heat, with temperatures consistently high, sometimes reaching 41°C to 43°C. To proactively manage forest fire prevention and control, forest rangers are coordinating with local authorities to increase forest fire surveillance to promptly detect and handle incidents.

A representative of the Dien Chau District Forest Protection Department said: Dien Chau district has over 6,000 hectares of pine forests, the risk of forest fires is very high because most of the vegetation under the pine forest canopy has not been treated. To minimize the risk of forest fires, the district has set up 4 checkpoints at the forest entrance, including 2 checkpoints in Dien Phu commune, 1 checkpoint in Dien Doai commune, and 1 checkpoint in Minh Chau commune, Dien Chau district. In addition to controlling and monitoring information about people entering and leaving the forest, the checkpoints also propagate and remind people not to bring fire into the forest, while raising awareness of forest fire prevention and control. Faced with the high risk of forest fires, the Forest Protection Department has directed its subordinate units to maintain 100% of their personnel on duty 24/7 during hot weather and high risk of forest fires. Forest owners and commune-level People's Committees have arranged forces to guard and control people entering and leaving forests in key forest areas, at fire watchtowers, and forest protection stations at high risk of forest fires to proactively prevent and stop forest fires. Up to now, the whole province has treated over 2,600 hectares of pine forest undergrowth, repaired 186 km of firebreaks; built 62 km of production forest roads bordering natural forests. Built 7 new fire watchtowers, repaired 12 watchtowers; built 140 new fire prohibition signs.

The Forestry Department has also directed forestry units to prepare, repair, and test-operate machinery and equipment to be ready for forest fire fighting.
