Received certificate of recognition as Vietnam Heritage Tree.

With a lifespan of 670 years, the 5 fig trees of the Le family have many long-standing cultural and historical values. According to legend, the ancestor of the Le family in Nghi Thinh land was Quy Cong Le Van Hoan (from Thanh Hoa) - a talented general of Duc Thai To Le Loi. Quy Cong Le Van Hoan was assigned to govern the central coastal region. Many times passing through this Nghi Thinh land, he was extremely surprised to see how many ancient trees were blown away and broken by hurricanes, but these 5 fig trees still stood tall between heaven and earth.

Thinking that Nghi Thinh was a good land, he decided to bring his children and grandchildren to establish a village and live around the surviving fig trees. Every time he raised his army to fight the enemy, Quy Cong Le Van Hoan stood under the lush foliage of the fig garden and prayed for the safety of his soldiers. As a result, his army always won. After the fiercest years of the war against the US, the whole village and the temple were destroyed, but the five ancient fig trees still existed, becoming greener and more majestic.

Currently, the whole country has 106 ancient trees recognized as Vietnam Heritage Trees. In Nghe An, these 5 fig trees are the first heritage trees of the family to be ranked as national heritage trees.

At the reception ceremony, the Le family expressed their hope that their family heritage tree will contribute to the development of tourism in their home province.
