Nghe An: A household sold a sow for a record price of 24 million VND

It is known that Mr. Cao Tien Hoa's family has been raising sows and pigs for meat since 2007. Recently, due to the impact of the outbreak of African swine fever, the price of pigs has fluctuated erratically. Many households in the area have not re-herded, but his family is still trying to hold on.

Last week, his family sold a 4-year-old sow weighing 320 kg for 75,000 VND/kg, earning 24 million VND. Mr. Hoa could not believe that his family's pig could be sold for such a high price.

The pig that Mr. Hoa's family in Lang Son commune, Anh Son district just sold is considered the pig with the highest selling price ever in the area.

Currently, the total pig herd in Anh Son district is nearly 55,000, the whole district has 27 standard farms, of which 9 farms have an annual income of over 1 billion VND and 18 mixed farms have an income of over 700 million VND, concentrated in communes such as Cam Son, Dinh Son, Khai Son and 100 pig farms from 30 - 200 pigs in 21 communes and towns.

In 2019, the output of live pigs for slaughter in the whole district reached 8,958 tons, an increase of 20.3% over the same period.

With the goal of ensuring the stable development of the district's livestock and poultry, Anh Son district has focused on directing functional sectors and localities to propagate to people that when re-herding, they need to pay attention to the quality of the breed; regularly clean the environment and pay special attention to caring for, raising and preventing and controlling diseases for pigs./.
