The Museum of Military Region 4 still preserves a very special artifact, a silk shirt that Uncle Ho gave to Mr. Nguyen Van Uy - Captain of the Red Self-Defense Team of Yen Phuc village (now Anh Son commune).

According to the documents of the Military Zone 4 Museum, Mr. Nguyen Van Uy (1890-1968) was a famous person in Phuc Son commune, former Anh Son district, now Anh Son commune, Nghe An province. He was born into a peasant family in Yen Phuc village (Anh Son district), witnessed the bitterness of the enslaved people and the brutality of the colonialists and feudalists, so he soon became enlightened about the revolution.

Respond to the revolutionary movementNghe Tinh Soviet1930-1931, Yen Phuc people organized demonstrations demanding the colonial-feudal government to abolish taxes and social injustices. The revolutionary masses of Yen Phuc village went to the house to punish the local landlords, established the Soviet government, and organized the redistribution of land to the poor.

At that time, the Party advocated the establishment of Red Self-Defense teams with the mission of supporting the masses and protecting the young Soviet government. In Anh Son, 27 Red Self-Defense teams were established, of which the Yen Phuc village Red Self-Defense team was one of the earliest established Self-Defense teams and operated in the most orderly and systematic manner.

Under the command of Captain Nguyen Van Uy,Red Self DefenseYen Phuc has repeatedly carried out punishments and harsh suppression of the evil people in the ruling apparatus. The self-defense force is truly an important support for the masses and the Party organization, especially during the period when Yen Phuc people had to evacuate to the wild mountains to avoid revenge from the tyrants and landlords.

The Nghe Tinh Soviet Movement entered a period of decline, the colonialists and feudalists returned to suppress the demonstrations, hunted down the revolutionary soldiers to take revenge and threatened the masses. Mr. Nguyen Van Uy was one of those who was relentlessly hunted down, eventually fell into the hands of the enemy, was imprisoned in Vinh prison, then transferred to Kon Tum prison.

In prison, the outstanding son of Yen Phuc village was subjected to all kinds of brutal and savage torture, but he was always determined to maintain his character and integrity as a communist. He and his fellow prisoners organized a struggle to demand certain rights, forcing the prison guards to make concessions, remove some harsh regulations, and improve the prisoners' diet.

In early 1945, the Viet Minh Front's struggle movement grew stronger and more widespread, forcing the colonial-feudal regime to release a number of prisoners. Nguyen Van Uy was one of those released from prison and returned to his homeland after nearly 15 years in a dark prison. The outstanding communist soldier from his hometown of Yen Phuc sought to contact the revolutionary base to continue participating in the struggle.

During the historic autumn days, along with all parts of the country, the revolutionary struggle atmosphere in Yen Phuc began to boil. On August 18, on all the roads, Yen Phuc people and the communes poured into the center of Anh Son district to participate in the rally organized by the Viet Minh.

Next, on the night of August 22, 1945, Mr. Nguyen Van Uy led the Yen Phuc Village Self-Defense Team, coordinating with the villages in the commune to divide into 4 directions to advance into Kim Nhan post, where many Japanese soldiers were gathered to fight. The revolutionary spirit was like "water breaking the bank", making the Japanese soldiers terrified, forcing them to lay down their weapons and surrender. The red flag with yellow star was raised on the post gate and fluttered, signaling that the enemy's largest military base in Anh Son was in the hands of the revolution.

After capturing Kim Nhan fort, the Self-Defense Force and the people of Yen Phuc returned to their village to continue fighting with the local tyrants, forcing them to quickly surrender and hand over their seals and books. This was the place where the earliest power was gained in Anh Son district.

The next morning, Yen Phuc people and tens of thousands of people from all over the region flocked to Anh Son Palace to witness the moment of the government's inauguration.revolutionprovisionally, the colonial-feudal regime was officially abolished.

The country and homeland were independent and free, Mr. Nguyen Van Uy returned to the fields, gardens, and became friends with hoes and plows. During his first visit to his homeland (1957), after hearing the story of the fighting example of revolutionary soldier Nguyen Van Uy, Uncle Ho asked the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee to present him with a silk shirt. A year later, Mr. Uy went to the capital to attend the Northern Agricultural Congress and met President Ho Chi Minh and was honored to receive his badge.

The silk shirt that Uncle Ho gave to Mr. Nguyen Van Uy is a precious artifact, marking his affection for a loyal revolutionary soldier. At the same time, it affirms his pride in the revolutionary movement in Yen Phuc in particular and Nghe An province in general.
