Nghe An: A fisherman is suspected to be missing at sea on the 5th day of Tet.
(Baonghean.vn) - Some fishermen fishing near the shore in the Quynh Long sea area (Quynh Luu district, Nghe An) discovered some nets and fishing equipment but no people or boats or rafts.
At 6:30 p.m. on February 20, some fishermen fishing near the shore in the Quynh Long sea discovered some drifting fishing gear, which was later identified as belonging to Mr. Vu Viet Dung (52 years old), residing in Quynh Long commune.

Mr. Dung's family said that at 2:30 p.m. the same day, Mr. Dung drove a motorboat (90 horsepower) to the sea about 4 nautical miles from the mainland to pull the net. At around 4 p.m., the family called the phone number but could not reach it. Some fishermen who went to pull the net at the same time as Mr. Dung called home and were told that Mr. Dung had not returned yet.
According to fishermen, possibly due to thick fog, Mr. Dung's boat was hit by another ship and sank.
Upon receiving the news, the People's Committee of Quynh Long commune notified vehicles operating in the area where the fishermen were in distress to increase observation, detection, search and rescue of missing people, and at the same time organize searches, report to authorities and visit and encourage the family.
As of around 10am this morning, February 21, the vehicle and victims had not yet been found.
