Nghe An: Shrimp farming value reaches over 658 billion VND

(Baonghean.vn) - In 2017, Nghe An's shrimp farming area reached 2,119 hectares, with a harvest of 6,582 tons of commercial shrimp, equal to 108% compared to 2016.

In 2017, in the shrimp farming areas of Hoang Mai Town, Quynh Luu District, Dien Chau and Vinh City, there were hundreds of households investing in shrimp farming with high profits, of which 15 households achieved profits from 300 million to 5 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Cuong's family, Quynh Di Ward - Hoang Mai Town, in 2017 raised 15 hectares of white-leg shrimp using VietGAP process, achieving a yield of 7 tons/ha, revenue of 12.6 billion VND, profit of 5.5 billion VND. Mr. Cuong said: Raising shrimp using VietGAP process reduces costs, diseases, does not pollute the environment... and makes it easy to consume products, so the economic efficiency is high.

According to the Department of Fisheries, in 2017, the shrimp farming area of ​​Nghe An reached 2,119 hectares, of which white-leg shrimp farming was 2,072 hectares and black tiger shrimp farming was 27 hectares. Of which, 240 hectares were raised according to VietGAP process.

The harvest output reached 6,582 tons, equal to 120% of the plan and 108% of 2016. If only multiplied by the price of 100,000 VND/kg of Nghe An shrimp last year, it reached more than 658 billion VND. The average yield was 4.5 tons/ha, in which the VietGAP farming area achieved a yield of 5.5 - 6 tons/ha.

Many farming areas have achieved high efficiency such as: Nam Tien Quynh Bang area has about 90% of farming households making a profit from 200 million to 2.5 billion VND/household; Farming areas in Quynh Di ward, Quynh Xuan - Hoang Mai town; Quynh Thanh commune, Quynh Luu district have about 80% of households making a profit, with a profit from 100 million to 500 million VND/household, some households making a profit from 1 - 5 billion VND.

Last year's consumption market was favorable, 100 shrimp/kg cost 135,000 VND/kg, during the main season about 120,000 VND/kg.

Shrimp farming households have achieved high economic efficiency because they have done a good job of improving pond sanitation, water supply and drainage systems and environmental sanitation in farming areas; pond infrastructure has been invested in by pond owners, many households have invested in waterproof lining pond systems for good results; selected shrimp breeds with clear origins to ensure quality; implemented good care and disease prevention processes...

In 2018, Nghe An plans to raise 2,100 hectares of shrimp, with an output of 6,500 tons of commercial shrimp.
